One of our customers needed the gasket that connects the regulator to a 2008 Coleman 5466A propane stove. Searching by the stove’s model number wasn’t getting us anywhere, but fortunately, he also gave us the number stamped on the regulator.

We went into full detective mode for this one. We found the same regulator used on three other stove models, looked through each of those diagrams, and worked backward until we identified the gasket used on the small end.

After following that convoluted little path, we confirmed that the correct gasket is included in our 5430 O-Ring Kit. It’s also available separately as the S37 gasket.

Sometimes finding the right part is less about knowing the answer and more about knowing where to look for it.

Is anyone else still using one of these 5466A stoves?

One of our customers in San Antonio recently picked up a 1953 Coleman 500 stove that appears to have seen very little use. He wanted to replace the small fuel-cap seal and return the pump to the original leather-cup style.

Nicole asked for a few more photos before recommending anything. Once she saw the other end of the pump, she could confirm that someone had replaced the original assembly with a later fixed-end version made for a neoprene pump cup.

The early pump assemblies used a leather cup with a square retaining nut.

She helped him find the proper leather-cup assembly, the S45 fuel-cap seals, and an original Coleman funnel with the smaller stem made for the small filler opening.

That small filler cap is original to the Model 500 and was also used on the 242 & 243 lanterns.

How close to original do you try to keep your restorations?

109 lanterns and lamps, all feeling a little unloved.

We’re getting ready to sort through them and see which ones can be put back into service and which can help keep other lanterns going through their parts.

One way or another, we’re hoping to help them—or parts of them—find new homes. This should keep us busy for a while.

Buses by the Bridge is huge—the lanterns at night are amazing. ✨
The best part is definitely the people. Everyone is great. Really fun catching up with friends and seeing all the Coleman gear. If you see me around, come say hi and grab a patch! 🚌🫶

Time to work now. Was able to pick up two collections of lanterns and parts on my way home. One in Chicago and one in Pullman Washington. Had to get a U-Haul trailer - no way it would all fit.

Chicago was crazy - glad to head west from there. Pullman is beautiful country with rolling hills of wheat - very nice.

We have work for days and days now as we identify and then enter our new finds into the store.

Has been a long trip and I am so glad to be back! Everyone was so kind along the way. So thankful I get to do this.

Just had to stop by the man who makes THE check valve tool- Mike Wells! His shop is in Breedsville Michigan.

Mike caught some Bluegill fish for our lunch. I wasn't sure what to expect since I had never had Bluegill before, but I like new things. It was amazing - so good.

He has quite a nice shop for doing his work and a great collection of lanterns too.

Next stop was with William Huddle in Crystal Michigan.
William is very knowledgeable about most anything Coleman, but I think he has a passion for the ones powered with propane. He even has a Christmas tree made out of model 5120's in his yard.
