“I wanna fly like an Eagle (Pose )to the Sea…
Fly like an Eagle, let my spirit carry me”🎶🧘‍♀️🌊

I hope y’all like this short & sweet video of Eagle Pose, Garudasana!

Time may keep slipping into the future but you don’t have to anymore with Hatha Yoga & the correct technique…to flip the script on muscular imbalances that are super common to our western bodies. This means you get out of pain and restriction when you practice on a regular basis. Like your car (or ship 🚢) needs maintenance. Our bodies are our vehicles. We gotta get you some maintenance, already!

Are you a businessperson?
Are you a chef?
Do you work construction?
Do you do hair for a living?
Are you a mechanic? (I love working with these guys)
Are you a mom?
Or a nurse?
Are you a living, breathing human being alive on this planet at this time in the world?!

If so, I can say with some level of certainty —you probably need yoga.

I do one-on-ones and small groups in the Vancouver WA and Portland areas. DM me for information on setting up a private class for you, your family, friend group, or staff.

It's all coming together.

The is the mountain I've been patiently and assiduously summiting. I've learned a whole lot through the creative process of bringing this thing to life. It's been a hunting and gathering process, a process that's led me into dark places and into wonderful places. As a human being, I tend to lean into my intellect (take care swimming those waters!), but if there's one thing I am grateful for at the end of the day--it's the discipline, love, and respect I cultivated for myself and others through my Buddhist training and my regular Yoga Practice. It's the healthy habits and the heart and the grit to continue that has enabled me to pull this one off. Of course, it's not over.

I hand-selected the best teachers and & I found brilliant mentors, helpful friends, and I earned a boatload of life experience that I wouldn't trade for anything--it got really challenging along the way, that's for sure. Good stories for sitting around the bonfire with old friends and new friends one day!

I'm definitely looking forward to some well-deserved time off, time with my family, maybe I'll even have a personal life one of these days.

"Balance, schmalance," as they say... I'll rest when I'm dead ;-)

Hello out there 🙂

This is an introduction post for anybody new to my account. I made a determination to post more often. I have a lot to offer, but I need to remember to tell y’all here on the interweb!

Here I am in Upward Stretching Pose, Utthita Paschimottanasana ☝️—practicing at Mija Hot Yoga in North Portland. I teach group classes about twice a week at Mija.

Mostly, I work in session with my one-on-one clients in the studio in Vancouver, Portland, on Zoom, and in-home. Some of my clients are women in their 40s and 50s, but most of the people I see are men young adult to late 70s. I love my clients—holy moly what a diverse group. I feel lucky I get to watch people overcome their obstacles & limitations, get out of pain & stay young and focused & vitally alive.

I do in-studio, Zoom, and in-home sessions. Hit me up if you resonate with coming on as a client! What a wonderful experience to enable folks to take complete responsibility for their health. People are on vacation now so it’s a good time to get in.

I also teach teachers how to do what I do. I love working with my teacher friends. I’ve done a lot of homework over the last few decades, you guys. A lot. The Yoga & Fitness world can be a challenging business, so it’s important to stick with the ones who know all the ships rise together.

Hey Y’all! My “baby” has arrived 😁

So, this is what I’ve been working on for the past several years. I am thrilled to announce “The Raksana Method” Functional Movement Program has officially launched & is underway.

I’ve been building this thing for almost two decades. I didn’t know exactly what it was until about 5 years ago.

It’s getting wonderful feedback, I definitely have people to thank. I am proud of this one. I’m already proud some my friends who have completed the program. They’re showing me it works in living color, with proof of their lives. How cool is that✨

If you are a yoga teacher or a medical provider who wants The Real Deal Functional Movement Continuing Education Experience… If you endeavor to enable your students or patients to take the reins on their own healing by the grace of their own will, effort, and understanding—I would love to show you how to facilitate such a thing!

This program is for new & seasoned yoga teachers, fitness instructors, therapists, providers, and medical assistants. It’s also for people who love Yoga and want a surefire way to up their game even in the presence of chronic pain or injury.

Tailored to the goals and gifts of the human being in front of me. The feedback has been wonderful and the Program is entirely achievable for those of you with a full-time job & a personal life. This 13 Week Course is an effective, practical way to rise up as a leader in Wellness & Yoga in your own right.

Get after it! I want to support you and most of all, in my heart of hearts—I want to see all the ships rise up together. Next round starts in late August. Message me for details

Practice Everywhere. Best investment ever is the one you make in Yourself. The quality of my relationship with myself and with the people in my environment is directly related to my ability and dedication to first putting the fuel in my own tank.

First full day off yesterday in…I don’t remember the last time!

I’m not celebrating constant work with no rest, just acknowledging what it is. I’ve been a yoga teacher for a long time, and I mainly identify myself this way—even more as an educator because the yoga is just a really effective strategy and container for self healing and development.

There came a time several years ago when I realized I needed to embrace the entrepreneurial spirit. It was so obviously totally necessary if I was going to continue.

Recently, everything that could have changed— did. I’m in a new place in my life now. I separated from someone I’ve been very close to for several years. I moved over the bridge to Portland. My educational program is doing well. When I look in the mirror these days, I see someone I truly respect and it’s deep because it’s earned. My need for approval from others isn’t so important anymore.

I went on this hike in the Gorge yesterday by myself. I’ve never been on a hike by myself before because I inherited my mother’s sense of direction😁.I decided it would be good for me and it was. I practiced yoga by myself on this overlook because I wanted to and I desperately needed to move the clutter vibes from the city out of my head and my body. It’s one of my favorite things to do my own thing and to be free to do exactly what I want to do, when I want to do it.

Do I think about romance, still? Yes. Rose-colored glasses are… I don’t know. I think I lost them in the move 😉Have I finally let go of someone outside myself making me happy? Yep. Sometimes acceptance is preceded by metaphorical kicking and screaming. I can stand by my choices and I’m old enough to have incurred disappointment and betrayal and all the things we humans come here to experience so we can hopefully learn how to love better and get closer to who we truly are.

I am grateful and looking forward to this next chapter!

If you’d like to work with me—I have time for two more regular weekly clients. Investing in yourself is not about money. It’s about a change in your own heart and a commitment to taking complete responsibility for your own wellbeing.

I have an injury around my left sacroiliac joint. L4 is slipping a little and my left hip is doing something weird. I understand the root cause of the injury now, because I am a seeking kind of person and hindsight is 20/20. But I don’t know how to fix it.

I spent years learning how to stand alone in spirit so I could go in the direction of my heart despite pushback from my environment and not knowing how to do that gracefully. Like Bikram says, “having is nothing if you don’t how to use it.” That’s true.

Lucky for me, I am a willing student and I’m not afraid of getting out there in the the ring and I know this is my fortune.

I also don’t know how to fix my sacral injury. After all this time of learning how to be independent and self sufficient, I’m getting the feeling the next leg(no pun intended) is going to be about learning how to depend on others again.

Interdependence is the way forward and life is a dance. I’m up for it, I’m grateful for it all. Even and sometimes especially the tough stuff..the best things in life often come from the gritty parts.

Like one of my favorite people in the world says, “The grit makes the Pearl.”

Let’s go!
