Being a better combat sports athlete isn't just about what you do on the mats or in the cage. The work you put in outside of training can have just as much impact on your performance.
Cardiovascular Training — Build your gas tank, improve your ability to recover between exchanges, and maintain a high pace deep into a hard round.
Strength Training — Getting stronger can give you more power, better control, stronger positions, and greater physical resilience. Strength training should complement your combat training, not compete with it.
Proper Nutrition — Training is only part of the equation. Your body needs enough quality food, protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals to fuel performance and support recovery.
Rest, relaxation & Recovery — Adaptation happens when you recover. Quality sleep and properly planned rest allow your muscles, joints, and nervous system to recover so you can come back ready to train again. Recovery isn't only physical. Taking time to relax, disconnect, and give your mind a break can help keep you mentally sharp and prevent burnout. You don't have to be training every minute you're awake to be getting better.
The goal isn't to simply do more. It's to build a lifestyle that allows you to train harder, recover better, and stay consistent for the long haul.
Think of your body like a weapon. Training is how you use it. Strength, conditioning, nutrition, sleep, and recovery are how you maintain and sharpen it.
The work outside the gym makes the work inside the gym more effective.
