ROUND ONE GOES TO THE COMETS. ☄️🏒

These Jr. Comets took down their I-90 neighbors, the Valley Eagles, 3–0 to close out tournament #1 of the 2026–27 season.

And WOW did the girls come to play today. 🔥

From the first puck drop, these Comets were buzzin’. They made it crystal they were gonna do what it took to bring home a lil cheddah cheese. 🧀

Scoring opps? PLENTIFUL.
Not free. Earned by workin’.

A good chunk of the squad got in on making Valley’s tendy earn her dinner, but ultimately it was #3 Colucci finding twine THREE times. 🎩🚨🚨🚨

🏒🚨 Two with the netminder between the pipes, then toppin’ off the hatty late in the 3rd after Valley added the extra attacker for one last push.

🍎 #39 Dowsland dished up the helper on the game’s first goal.

And how about the D-SQUAD?! 🛡️
Challenged to limit SOGs one period at a time.

Mission accomplished. Every. Single. Period. 💪

🥅 Behind them, #60 Bates was a WALL.

Perfect SV%. Door slammed shut. 🔒 🥚

Her first shutout of the season — and it was a beauty. 🚫🥅

FINAL: COMETS 3 — EAGLES 0.

💐🎩 #3 Colucci finishes the tournament tied for 2ND OVERALL IN GOALS and with the 3RD-HIGHEST POINT TOTAL.
📊 6 goals. 8 points. 1.6 Pts/G. 👏

The Jr. Comets finish their first tournament together 1–3–1 (W-L-SOL) in NGHL Major 1 (AAA).

But scoreboard aside, the message doesn’t change:

It’s about Effort. Work. Process.

The W’s?

Talk about resilience.

Game 4 brought giant leaps forward. ☄️

The Comets were buzzin' from the first puck drop! Scoreboard held 0-0 until #3 Colucci beat the buzzer to end the 1st — lighting the lamp with game’s first as time expired. ⏱️🚨

#3 struck again in the 2nd to make it 2–0 Comets, and that’s where it stayed deep into the 3rd.

Then, in the final moments, Mid Fairfield found two quick ones to even the tilt at 2 and force the a shootout.

🎯 #3 Colucci added another in the shootout.
🥅 #60 Bates was outstanding between the pipes and turned in a stellar performance all game long.

The Stars snuck two through in the shootout, and the Comets drop an absolute barn burner, 3–2 (SO).

🍎 #9 Kulik picked up the helper on one of the regulation goals.

One more to go on Day 3️⃣. As we do. ☄️🏒

Game 3 goes to the Wolfpack, 5–2 — but the Comets brought the energy! 🔊💪☄️

With just 3 seconds left in the 2nd, #18 Ingalls buried one off an offensive-zone draw to get Utica on the board! ⚡

Then in the 3rd, #23 Colantuoni finished off some faceoff magic for goal No. 2! 🪄🏒

🍎 #3 Colucci got helpers on both of the Comets tallies.

These girls wo-manifesting their best Jack Hughes — all smiles, even after a good ol’ teeth-bashing. 🇺🇸🏒

Collectively, there’s still about 10 teeth left between them, so you know it was a good day. 😬

Day 1 rundown:

🥅 #60 Bates — stood a little taller! SV% UP 7% game-over-game!

🚨 #3 Colucci denied the Jr. Canes their goose egg, netting the Jr. Comets Girls’ first tally of the NGHL Labor Day Challenge ’26!

🍎 #91 DeCondo with the helper.

And one more on the + side was +1 to the bench, +10 to the vibes with #39 Dowsland back in the lineup. ✨

Game 1 Recap:
The Assabet Valley tilt didn’t go our way — but oh girl, did these girls battle.

Only two subs. Seven skaters total. Against last year’s #17 nationally ranked team. Straight beer-league bench today.

They competed, got better every period, and never stopped pushing.

Success ≠ the scoreboard. Success is getting uncomfortable, getting better, and building — one faceoff, one puck battle, one shot at a time.

We work because the work IS the reward. ☄️
