(July 21, 2026)—USA BMX is bringing a new chapter of BMX racing to Northwest New Mexico with the approval of a new sanctioned track in Aztec. Backed by a newly approved lease with the City of Aztec that was approved by the Aztec City Council on June 23, the project at Aztec Riverside Park is moving into the fundraising and development phase and will create a year-round destination where riders of all ages can race, learn and build a stronger BMX community in the heart of the Four Corners region. At the heart of the Aztec Riverside BMX project is its commitment to the next generation of riders. For Rochelle and Justin Brown, who are leading the effort to bring the track to life, the reason behind it has always been the same: it’s for the kids

This is the direction we’ve been going and this is where we are. We are not digging yet but I can’t see any reason why we won’t be racing in this park.

Just wanted to come drop this off. I’ve still been working on this without updates for a couple reasons. 1. I’m super busy and 2. to not get anyone’s hopes up. Fat chance of that with the past too many years waiting on this. We just had a really great conversation about this and I’ll be sitting in on a meeting soon. What I hope to happen from this meeting is I hope we at least have the plan to secure the land lease and we will be looking at establishing the entity. If this all goes how I think it will I will be naming the new track and entity and I would expect the land lease soon behind that. This is all foreign to me as I’m just an older kid that rides but I feel like some changes we made are going to be great and we will see this thing through. There will come a time in the near future that we move forward and start looking for donations of time, materials and maybe money. Of course we will make sure this is a tax write off for those who are able. I still meet people almost everyday who not only support this but look forward to this finally coming about. I can’t wait to start asking for help shoveling dirt and shaping jumps. We will get this track and we will have a big bad ass race scene here in the panhandle. Yall just don’t give up. I got this.
