Senior Chloe Tufford will begin her third and final season as a Mustang wrestler. Chloe comes in as a two time returning district qualifier. Chloe is also a natural leader who leads by her incredibly hard work ethic. Despite last season only being Chloe's second year wrestling, she was voted in as a captain by her teammates. Chloe pulled off a heart pounding victory against New Philadelphia in our dual last season. That victory played a key part in winning the dual match. Chloe finished last season with 17 victories. Chloe has the potential to be representing the Mustangs in March at the State Tournament.

Wrestling sign-ups will be September 30th & October 14th from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Claymont Stadium.

Senior Jadyn Sproul displays her Big Z Sports Athelete of the Match Chain for her memorable performance against New Philadelphia last season. As only a first year wrestler, Jadyn stepped onto the mat against New Philadelphia with the score tied, and the entire dual coming down to her. Jadyn secured a pin during that match and the Mustangs won the dual in front of a packed crowd. In the comments you will see the iconic picture that Mic Maple captured of that moment. Jadyn went on to become a ditrict qualier, where she won two matches at the district tournament. Jadyn finished the season with 20 victories. Outside of wrestling Jadyn is a standout shot put and discuss thrower, along with a memeber of 4-H. We look for big things out of Jadyn in her senior year.

Due to the fair, Friday's 3:30 to 4:30 workout on 9/25 has been canceled. Good luck to all of our 4-H wrestlers participating in fair. We will return back to our normal Friday times on 10/2.

Junior Arika Flickinger returns to our squad as a returning district qualifier from last season. Arika is known for her aggressive style of wrestling. Arika was present at the very first ever Claymont Girls Wrestling practice. As a youth, Arika would often wrestle with her cousins at the 922 wrestling club. Throughout Arika's career, she has won some very big matches for us. Arika is a leader who does an outstanding job of cheering on her teammates, and working with the youth.

The 5:00 am crew today had a nice showing with 7 wrestlers (Mia missed the picture). It's always fun being represented by high school, junior high, and youth girls! We will be back at it again next Wednesday at 5:00 am.

Senior Melody Parrish holds up her bracket after becoming the first Claymont Girl to win a sectional title. Whenever girls wrestling started at Claymont, Melody was the first high school girl to join. Melody currently leads the Lady Mustangs with 60 overall career wins. Melody has put in a tremendous amount of work this off-season, and she has big goals for her senior year!

Freshman Audrey Draher started out her junior high season wrestling last year, but an early season knee injury forced her to miss the remainder of the season. Audrey has since recovered and is a member of the high school volleyball team. Audrey also had a big season as well on the softball field, and was a major contributor to Claymont's Middle School Softball Season's success.

Freshman Lauren Lopez had big goals last season of being Claymont's first girl to win the Junior High OAC State Title as an 8th grader. Unfortunately Lauren tore her ACL midway through the year and was forced to miss the junior high state tournament. Lauren has since worked hard with the rehabilitation process of getting her knee back to normal and will be ready to go for the 2026-27 wrestling season. Off the mat Lauren is a standout softball player who has hit dozens of homeruns, while also being an excellent pitcher.

Even though it is the off-season, our wrestlers were still busy wrestling. We had a very large group in at our weekly Friday workout. Then on Sunday, we had a group of junior high & high school girls who wanted to get some extra work in.

Ryder Taylor also spent the weekend wrestling in Pennsylvania at the Ultimate Club Duals. This is often regarded as one of the toughest off-season tournaments in the nation. Thank you to the Lady Warriors Wrestling Club for welcoming Ryder onto your team.
