We all have things that ground us and unfortunately… things that throw us off-center too. When those positive drivers play out, we relax and settle comfortably into who we are. When they play out negatively, we feel shaky and unsure.
No one likes feeling down on themselves. Learning our own patterns and the patterns of those we love allows us to ensure no one gets stuck in a place of low self-esteem for too long.

I used to think that being at my best meant I was killing it at all the things…work, parenting, marriage, friendship, and just life in general. Sure, those things can be a part of the mix, but striving and thriving aren’t the same thing.
I’ve found I feel significantly better when I let some things go. For a 1, maybe that’s dropping the need to fix everything. For a 3, it could be truly taking an unproductive day off. Settling into ourselves feels like coming home to a place where we can simply be. ❤️

Every type has a pattern or theme for the things they get hung up on…what’s your Enneagram type and what did I miss?!

We all want to feel seen. That part is universal. However, the dynamics going on inside of us are different… the intention, the effort, the fear, hope, and discipline… and we want those things to be known too.
Feeling seen means someone catches those things without needing them to be explained. And the more that happens, the safer we feel to be real. ❤️

I know that the title says “a few” and that I listed 5 things for each type which should then be “several” but well…I wanted to use the song and for the song to match the title. So here we are. 🤷♀️
Welcome to the chaos of my brain. 🤪😂

You’ve played the part long enough. You’re tired of the mask. Your nervous system is more than over it…
What’s that one pattern you’re just genuinely over pretending?!

As a Type 9, “whatever everyone else wants is fine” has always been a popular response when someone asks what I want to do. It always felt easier and like the path of least resistance. Expressing my wants and needs felt selfish. I can think of many times, even well into adulthood, that I just went along with something that I didn’t want at all. Something that I knew would cause my nervous system to take a hit, and shocker…it definitely did.
It truly is a constant learning for me. I have to force myself to vocalize what I want. And when I finally do, then I have to repeatedly remind myself that doing so is okay.
What little lessons are you working on right now? Where are you actively trying to challenge one of your norms? And how does it feel when you do it successfully?
