📢🚨SOUND ON!🚨📢

I get a TON of requests to break down what we’re doing in our sessions—and more importantly, WHY we’re doing it.

So here’s another training video with commentary, highlighting the different tasks being performed and giving a simple explanation of the purpose behind each one.

Sometimes the simplest-looking movements have the biggest carryover. 💪

💪 SIMPLE MOVEMENT. INSANE CARRYOVER.

Here Leyton is performing what we call Grounded Consecutive Pull-Ups.

His feet start on the ground, but the goal is to use little to no jump—just enough assistance from the legs to allow him to repeatedly pull his chin over the bar.

It doesn’t look complicated. That’s the point.

This basic movement gives us an opportunity to build a TON at once: stronger lats and upper back, better shoulder strength and stability, grip strength, trunk control, and the ability to stabilize the spine while producing force through the upper body.

We’re also getting repeated practice controlling the shoulder blades—pulling, lowering, resetting and doing it again—which can have tremendous carryover to healthier, stronger shoulders and better overall upper-body function.

And because Leyton’s feet remain grounded, we can scale the amount of assistance naturally. As he gets stronger, the legs do less and the upper body does more.

Training doesn’t always need to look complicated to be effective.

Sometimes the goal is simply to grab a bar and pull yourself up.

But when you choose the right basic movement and execute it consistently, the carryover can be INSANE.

Build basic strength. Build better movement. Let it carry over everywhere.

Abby had one of her best drills yet as she dug deep on the modified sprints!

When you can be ground-based, be ground-based!

Isometrics on the dip bar serve us well for improving grip strength, core strength, shoulder stability and much more!

Yoel loves seeing what his body can handle! We always implement plans that give us flexibility.

No plan can mean we spin our wheels but too rigid of a plan can lead to a lack of motivation and reduce the clients feelings of independence!

It all means something.

We have started doing adapted sled pushes for Abby! At times, they can be hard because so much is having to be interwoven into the movement but she has taken them on head first! (Pun intended)

The photo in the red was as recent as the early part of July! Blake is 16 lbs down and continuing lose while maintaining his strength and building up his athleticism!
