🇺🇸 HONORING A HERO — SGT. EDWARD L. BROOKS 🇺🇸

Today, the Corona Rita Rangers proudly honor Army Sgt. Edward L. Brooks, a 25-year-old Soldier from Dayton, Ohio, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country during Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. Brooks was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 77th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, based in Schweinfurt, Germany.

On August 29, 2007, Sgt. Brooks died in Ramadi, Iraq, from wounds sustained after an improvised explosive device attack.

But Sgt. Brooks was more than a Soldier.

Before his service in the Army, Edward was a member of Junior ROTC at Colonel White High School in Dayton. He became known for his incredible skill during precision-rifle drills, famously twirling a nine-pound rifle like a baton.

His ROTC instructor, Maj. Odell Graves, remembered him as “one of the true heroes in my book.”

Sgt. Brooks initially entered the Army as a tank driver and had already been wounded three times before ultimately making the ultimate sacrifice.

He was a husband and a father, leaving behind a wife and baby in Germany.

Eighteen years later, his story is still being carried forward.

Today, that responsibility belongs to one of our own.

When Jax puts on that jersey, he isn't simply putting on a uniform. He is carrying the name of a Soldier who served with courage, sacrificed for others, and left behind a family who loved him.

For one game, one season, one jersey — Jax becomes another link in the chain of remembrance.

And that is why we do this.

Our players get to take the field, chase their goals, laugh with their teammates, and enjoy the game they love. But on their backs are the names of Americans who never got the opportunity to come home and do those things.

Their names remind us that freedom comes with a cost — and that remembering their sacrifice is one small way we can say thank you.

Pfc. Glende, just 23 years old and from Rochester, New York, was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, based in Vicenza, Italy.

On July 27, 2012, Pfc. Glende was killed in Kharwar, Logar Province, Afghanistan, from wounds caused by small-arms fire.

He was only 23.

Today, his name continues to live on.

🇺🇸 Our player Carlos — better known to his teammates as “Big Toe” — proudly wears Pfc. Theodore M. Glende’s name on the back of his jersey.

Carlos isn't simply wearing a name.

He is wearing the memory of a young man who answered the call to serve his country and who gave his life doing so.

Every time Carlos steps onto the field, Theodore Glende's name goes with him.

🇺🇸 HONORING A HERO — SSG MICHAEL J. GABEL 🇺🇸

Today, the CoronaRita Rangers proudly honor Staff Sgt. Michael J. Gabel, United States Army, who made the ultimate sacrifice while serving our country during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Staff Sgt. Gabel, 30, of Crowley, Louisiana, was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment (Airborne), 173rd Airborne Brigade, based at Camp Ederle, Italy.

On December 12, 2007, Staff Sgt. Gabel lost his life at Forward Operating Base Curry, Afghanistan, from wounds sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device. Cpl. Joshua C. Blaney was also killed in the attack.

Today, more than 18 years later, his name is still remembered.

🇺🇸 Our player Reese proudly wears SSG Michael J. Gabel's name on the back of his jersey.

To Reese, that name represents more than just letters on a uniform. It represents a Soldier who raised his hand to serve, who stood alongside his fellow service members, and who gave his life in service to our nation.

When Reese steps onto the field wearing his name, he helps carry forward a legacy that must never be forgotten.

The jersey may come off at the end of the game, but the memory of a hero lasts forever.

At CoronaRita Soccer Club, we believe our players should understand that the freedoms they enjoy extend far beyond the soccer field. They exist because generations of brave men and women were willing to stand up, serve, and, when called upon, make the ultimate sacrifice.

🇺🇸 HONORING A HERO — MAJOR THOMAS GORDON BOSTICK 🇺🇸

Today, we are honored to share the story of Major Thomas Gordon Bostick, United States Army, a true American hero who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting the Soldiers under his command in Afghanistan on July 27, 2007.

Major Bostick was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross, one of our nation's highest military honors, for his extraordinary heroism under enemy fire.

His actions that day demonstrated incredible courage and selflessness. While under continuous small-arms and rocket-propelled gr***de fire, Major Bostick placed himself between the enemy and his exposed Soldiers, engaging the enemy and giving his men the precious time they needed to reach safety.

He put the lives of his Soldiers before his own.

Today, his name lives on.

🇺🇸 Our Corona Rita Rangers players proudly wear the names of fallen American heroes on the backs of their uniforms.

This uniform is more than a jersey.
It is a reminder.
It is a responsibility.
It is a way to honor those who gave everything so that we can enjoy the freedoms we have today.

This weekend, our player Kaden proudly wears the name of Major Thomas Gordon Bostick across his back.

Kaden may not have known Major Bostick personally, but every time he steps onto the field wearing his name, he helps keep his memory alive.

One name. One hero. One legacy that will never be forgotten.
