Isabella SantaMaria put everything together in this match.
She opened with a clean inside trip, immediately transitioned into her guillotine sequence, and when her opponent defended, she stayed composed through the scramble.
Rather than forcing the finish, Bella followed the movement, secured the back, and finished with a rear naked choke.
This is exactly what we’re striving for—connecting wrestling, judo, and jiu-jitsu into one continuous system. Every position leads to the next opportunity.
Bella continues to prove that being coachable and trusting the process accelerates growth. She’s developing into a well-rounded grappler by blending all three disciplines.

Isabella Santa Maria was moved up to the Grey Belt division and found herself facing another wrestler.
While her primary focus has always been wrestling and judo, her newaza (ground game) is still developing. Every tournament is another opportunity to gain experience and continue building her Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
What Isabella may lack in mat time, she more than makes up for with her willingness to learn. She is incredibly coachable and trusts the process. As a coach, she’s one of the few athletes I can “drive like a video game.” She does an outstanding job of getting herself into strong positions, listening between movements, and making the adjustments in real time.
That ability to stay calm, process information, and execute coaching is a skill that will continue to pay dividends as her Jiu-Jitsu evolves.
