One of the hardest decisions in bodybuilding is choosing when not to compete.
The excitement of prep can make it tempting to jump into another competition, but the most successful physiques are built through years of intentional decisions—not just more time on stage.

Most people think the afternoon slump is just part of the day. They’ll blame being busy, not sleeping enough, or needing more caffeine… and try to push through it.
But it could also be a fuel problem.
When your earlier meals are light, low in carbs, or inconsistent, your body starts to run low by mid-afternoon. That’s when cravings hit, energy drops, and you start reaching for whatever is quick. And that’s where it snowballs.
Quick sugar → short boost → bigger crash
More caffeine → wired, but not actually energized
Low energy → weaker workouts or skipped sessions
Undereating earlier → overeating later
Set your day up for success—eat enough earlier, balance meals, and stay on top of hydration.
Fix the earlier part, and that afternoon slump usually takes care of itself.

Every calorie isn't created equal—not because some foods are "good" or "bad," but because they don't all provide the same experience.
That's why we encourage people to be intentional. Maybe your morning latte is worth it. Maybe it's dessert, a craft beer, or a smoothie. Great! Just make those choices on purpose instead of letting mindless extras quietly add up.
