Back 2 Back JJCON Champion...David Portillo
This dude has been with me since the beginning and has never stopped.
As a coach, its a painful truth that most of the kiddos that you pour your heart and soul into for years, will eventually quit Jiu-Jitsu. Some get burnt out, some get bored, or some just dont like the hard work the mats require... and thats ok.
Then theres the few, that take the hard training sessions, the hard coaching, and the plateaus that seem to last forever. This stud has taken everything I've thrown at him and grown to be one of the most technical grapplers I've ever trained. Not only is he phenomenal at Jiu-Jitsu, hes genuinely a good kid. Always there to help, takes his training seriously, takes other students under his wing, and is very respectful.
Im so happy for him, and what hes accomplished. I truly believe David will be the first person, that started out with me as a kid, that I will have the privilege of putting a Black Belt on when hes of age.
