🏈🏐🏃‍♀️ THIS WEEK IN HEWITT-TRUSSVILLE ATHLETICS 🏃‍♂️🏐🏈

Another busy week is ahead for the Huskies! 🐾 From the volleyball court and football field to the cross country course, our HTMS and HTHS student-athletes are ready to compete!

📅 September 28 – October 3
This week features HTMS Volleyball and 9th Grade Football at home on Monday, volleyball and flag football action throughout the week, HTMS Football at Bragg on Thursday, and a packed weekend of tournaments and cross country meets.

🏈 Friday Night Lights: Varsity Football travels to Oak Mountain on Friday night!

🏐 Volleyball Metro Tournaments also begin Friday, with our 7th, 8th, 9th Grade, and JV teams competing across the area, while Varsity Volleyball heads to the Blalock Tournament.

🏃 Saturday brings a big day for Cross Country, with HTMS competing at the Gatorade Classic in Moulton and HTHS traveling to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the Chili Pepper Invitational.

HTHS Cross Country turned in an impressive performance at the Scottsboro Invitational on September 19, with both varsity teams finishing near the top of highly competitive fields. The Varsity Girls placed 3rd out of 30 teams, while the Varsity Boys finished 5th out of 33 teams, continuing a strong season for the Huskies.

Senior Noah Jordan led the HTHS boys, racing to a 3rd-place overall finish in the 5K with a time of 15:44.94, less than eight seconds behind the race winner. The Huskies placed five runners in the top 25, with Laine Walker finishing 9th, Lelan Neal 20th, Stewart Nelms 23rd, and Wyatt Moyer 25th.

On the girls’ side, Mary Durham led the Huskies with an outstanding runner-up finish, completing the 5K in 18:49. Durham finished just eight seconds behind the first-place runner, who crossed the line in 18:41. HTHS also had five runners finish in the top 25, with Hadley Turner placing 11th, Leah Anderson 14th, Evelyn Robertson 19th, and Addison Isbell 25th.

With strong individual performances and impressive team finishes, the Huskies put together another successful meet as they continue through the 2026 season.

Volleyball Earns Area Win Over Hoover

Hewitt-Trussville Volleyball improved to 16-6 overall and 2-0 in 6A Area 6 play with a 3-1 win over Hoover Tuesday night. The Huskies controlled the first two sets to go up 2-0 in the match. The Bucs rallied at the end of the 3rd set to take the stanza 28-26. The Huskies closed the 4th set on a 10-2 run to win the set 25-17.

Kayleigh Nguyen had 32 assists, 19 digs, five aces, three kills, and three blocks. Nguyen also surpassed 2,000 career assists on the night. Johnna Cox had 23 kills, 16 digs, and four aces. Christiana Callens anchored the defense with 23 digs.

The Huskies will travel to Jasper this weekend for the Drummond Invitational.
