Five Animals. One Form. A lifetime of Kung Fu.

At the 3rd Anniversary celebration of Grandmaster Lau Kar Yung’s Lau Martial Club, I had the honor of performing the Five Animal Section of Sup Ying Kuen (十形拳), a Hung Gar Kung Fu form.

The Five Animals—Tiger, Crane, Leopard, Snake, and Dragon—each express different qualities and methods within Hung Gar, making this one of the most distinctive forms in the system.

It was a privilege to perform at such a special gathering and to celebrate the traditions, friendships, and community that continue to keep Kung Fu alive.

Thank you to Grandmaster Lau Kar Yung and Lau Martial Club Hung Kuen Lion Dance for hosting such a wonderful event.

Had a great time celebrating the 3rd Anniversary of Grandmaster Lau Kar Yung’s Martial Club.

It was a pleasure spending time with Grandmaster Lau, his family and students, as well as visiting with the Martial Club family and to meet Brian Huang of Loop Kicks and Tommy and Alyssa Wong.

It was a special gathering celebrating kung fu, friendship, and the traditions that continue to connect generations of martial artists and filmmakers.

Thank you to Lau Martial Club Hung Kuen Lion Dance for hosting such a wonderful event. Wishing Grandmaster Lau, his family, students, and the entire school continued success and prosperity!

Here’s another sneak peek at Shadow Ghost 2!

Coloring is now well underway, and the pages are really starting to come to life.

This panel features Shadow Ghost—the Wrathful Revenant—brandishing his iconic butterfly knives. The weapons are housed together in his scabbard as a single blade. Once drawn, he separates them into two individual weapons, ready to be wielded as a pair.

The next chapter of the Kung Fu Comic by a Kung Fu Master is coming soon!

52 Masters: Evolution debut episode part 1 with Sensei William Chri...

This weekend, I had the opportunity to meet 李连杰 Jet Li, a man whose films inspired me to begin my Kung Fu journey over three decades ago and ultimately become a Sifu.

His portrayal of the legendary folk hero Wong Fei Hung in the “Once Upon a Time in China” film series had a profound impact on me. In the pre-internet era, that inspiration led me to seek out the lineage of Hung Gar Kung Fu, become a dedicated student of my Sifu, YC Wong, and join the martial lineage connected to Wong Fei Hung himself. Later, I was also privileged to learn Kung Fu from my Sifu Raymond K. Wong. For the past two decades, I’ve had the honor of passing those traditions on to students of my own at Tiger Crane Kung Fu

In recent years, I’ve hoped to inspire a new generation to explore the study of Kung Fu through Shadow Ghost, my comic book series that serves as a love letter to the martial arts films that shaped my journey as both a practitioner and teacher — including the films of Jet Li, whose work helped ignite my passion for Kung Fu in the first place.

It was both a pleasure and an honor not only to meet Mr. Li and receive a copy of his new book, “Beyond Life and Death,” but also to attend a theatrical screening of “Once Upon a Time in China” — my first time ever seeing the film in a theatrical setting — preceded by a Q&A session with Jet Li and his daughter, Jane.

The impact he has had on myself and countless others is immeasurable, and I’m deeply moved by his continued commitment to sharing the lessons and philosophy he has gained through his films, his life experiences, and now through his new book and beyond.
