Kansas’s first School Zone Design Guide is here!

Developed in collaboration with KDOT's Multimodal and Traffic Engineering Bureaus and Toole Design, this new resource will help transportation professionals, school districts, local governments, and community advocates improve safety within the school zone and in the broader school area.

The Guide aligns with MUTCD standards while incorporating Safe Routes to School best practices. It includes guidance on signage, safety treatments, and practical tools to support safer school access for Kansas students.

Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day is an opportunity to honor the role Ruby Bridges played in the civil rights movement AND celebrate the joy of walking, biking, and rolling to school.
The Safe Routes Partnership is now offering grants of $500 and $1,000 to support local celebrations.
