3-Day Race Recap — Shenandoah Speedway

Results don’t show how this weekend went at all…

Friday started off not in our favor. We were battling handling issues all day and ended up qualifying 9th out of 15 cars, which definitely wasn’t where we wanted to be. We finished 10th after fighting a race car that just kept getting looser and looser throughout the race.

Saturday, Mother Nature wasn’t on our side at all. We were able to get practice in, but I still wasn’t happy with the car. Unfortunately, qualifying and the feature were both canceled due to rain.

Sunday turned out to be a better day. We finally hit something right and had a car that was handling alot better. We qualified 7th, despite a poor qualifying effort on my part.

In Race 1, we were running in the top 5 until a caution came out with 3 laps to go, leaving us with a 6th-place finish due to the choose cone.

For Race 2, we started 9th based on our earlier practice times during which Dad was trying some things with the car. We worked our way forward and were in the top 5 for the majority of the race, battling for 3rd and 4th.

Unfortunately, on the last lap on the backstretch, a car didn’t lift and ended up on my car, ending our race early. It really sucks that it had to end this way because what was turning into a really good weekend ended with a DNF and a wrecked race car.

Race Weekend Recap 🏁

Friday’s practice wasn’t too bad as we worked on breaking in a new set of tires. We ended up qualifying 9th, but unfortunately, the feature got rained out and was moved to Saturday.

Saturday was a busy day with two features. For Friday’s makeup feature, we were able to gain a few positions and finish 6th. The car started off pretty good, but slowly fell off as the race went on.

We started 6th in Saturday’s feature, but the car was extremely loose throughout the race, and we ended up finishing 9th.

We’ll be off to Shenandoah for another 2-day show! 🏁 Looking forward to getting back on track and hopefully having a better weekend! 💗🩵

We struggled all day at Shenandoah with a loose race car. We made adjustments throughout the day, but we just couldn’t find the speed we were looking for, and our tires were completely worn out.

Unfortunately, my mom’s job situation over the past eight months really impacted our racing budget, and we haven’t been able to put on a new set of tires since Charlotte back in June. That definitely made these last two races a challenge.

The good news is we have a fresh set of tires on the way, and we’ll be ready for Dominion next weekend! We’re taking this weekend off to enjoy some time at the beach with family, then we’ll be back at Dominion for a two-day show!

🏁 Race Day Recap | Dominion Raceway 🏁

We had a great night at Dominion Raceway!

I qualified 5th and ended up starting 4th. We finished the night in 5th, which was our first Top 5 of the year.

I’m really happy with how the night went. We found more speed in the car and learned a lot.

Racing always finds a way to teach you something, and this weekend was no exception.

Saturday 6/6: We headed to Southern National for some extra seat time before making the trip to Charlotte. We unloaded a little slower than we hoped because we were on old tires. We qualified 9th out of 14 cars and finished 9th after the car continued to fall off every lap due to tire wear.

Monday 6/7: We kicked off the week by heading to Charlotte for the Summer Shootout Series as my birthday present! We unloaded with speed right out of the box and had a strong practice session. We qualified 5th and started 4th. After running in 3rd for the first few laps, a brief downpour rolled in, forcing us to bring the cars to impound. When we went back green, the track was still pretty wet. Unfortunately, rain racing wasn’t my strongest suit, and I spun going across the start finish line which was more slippery than I expected and made contact with the wall. The damage wasn’t severe, but there was no caution so I ended up falling backwards, and we finished 10th.

Tuesday 6/8: We unloaded with no practice and went straight into qualifying. Another rain shower hit right before qualifying, and we weren’t able to get a clean lap in during qualifying. We ended up qualifying 19th, which put us on the pole for the B-Main—not where we wanted to be, but we made the most of it. We were able to bring home the B-Main win! 🏁

Last weekend we decided to race 3 days in a row at 2 different tracks 🏁

Friday and Saturday we were at Shenandoah Speedway, then Sunday we headed to Dominion Raceway in Spotsylvania Virginia. Friday was a long practice day at Shenandoah, but we picked up a lot and worked hard all day. During our first scheduled practice session, a car spun in front of us and we ended up t-boning them head on, which resulted in me jamming my thumb pretty bad. I also didn’t feel right getting back in the car that night due to my vasovagal syncope condition, which can cause a sudden drop in heart rate and blood pressure when under a lot of pain, resulting in me almost passing out. I made the decision not to race Friday night and instead sat back and watched the rest of my friends.

Saturday we decided to give it another try. We weren’t as fast as we wanted to be in practice, but after getting some coaching, we picked up 3 tenths from 2nd practice to the heat race. We started 4th in the heat and finished 4th. For the feature, we started 11th and were running 6th until getting taken out with 3 laps to go, ending our night with a 13th-place finish.

Sunday at Dominion definitely wasn’t a terrible day, but it didn’t go exactly how we wanted either. In the 1st practice, I ran my fastest lap ever at Dominion. We dropped off a little in 2nd practice, which moved us down the board. We qualified 11th out of 16 cars, so we started 11th in the feature. We avoided an early caution and ended up restarting 9th. We ended finishing 7th.

Definitely a fun weekend and a huge learning experience all around. We’ll be taking this weekend off for Mother’s Day, then we’ll be back at Shenandoah next weekend for twins!

Shenandoah Speedway, April 18, 2026 Race Day Recap:

We decided this weekend that we were going to try a brand-new set up for our team. We had a really good day figuring some things out. In Practice 1, Race Monitor wasn’t working, so I’m not exactly sure where we were that round. In Practice 2, we were sitting 5th. We then qualified 6th, and started 6th in the feature after the invert.

On the initial start, we got hung on the outside and settled into 7th. We ended up finishing 7th, which isn’t where we want to be, but we’ll work on a few things this week and be back next weekend at Dominion Raceway on Sunday.
