Cultured Movement consists of cultural dance classes that mix calisthenics with urban and cultural - inspired dance rhythms for improvement of the body, creativity of the mind and rhythm for the soul. Dance class genres include hip-hop, modern, jazz while incorporating dance forms from various cultural influences. In addition, Cultured Movement adheres to the targets of the federal government’s initiative, "Healthy People," by addressing fitness, exercise, health promotion and disease prevention. While offering a cultural experience, each dance class will include caloric breakdown and muscle utilization. Cultured Movement is committed to promoting healthy lifestyles, enhancing body image/self-esteem and encouraging women and children to invest in their bodies while engaging in dance as an art form. Founder/Executive Director, Sherema Fleming, is a Registered Nurse and a native of Bronx, New York. Dance has been her first love since her mother enrolled her in a modern dance class at age 4. One of her most memorable performances was dancing for sick children in a hospital auditorium. Since then, Sherema continues to teach, choreograph and perform and appreciates all genres of the art.
