I didn’t wanna, but I finally sold her last night: my old car that took me to so many martial arts tournaments and trainings! So many times I could barely see out of the car with all the merchandise inside, my 6-foot display grids standing up in the middle up to the console, and the staffs laid neatly on either side…boxes piled up to the ceiling. 🤣😂😁 Good times!! ❤️ I would see so many customers again and again at my regular tournaments and it was always fun to see what they were up to that year, what new weapons they were trying, what new categories they had entered in the competitions. 🥋⚔️🗡️
I’d dillydallied since late April when I got another car, but I just couldn’t seem to let go of this old girl… she still gets great gas mileage, the interior’s in pretty good shape, it’s got new tires, new battery, had to have the door handles replaced because a mechanic broke them off…..I even added remote start, which is awesome in Indiana winters!
Anyway… I’m sentimental and I was sad to see her go, but she’s gone to a good home.

I was stunned today when a friend texted me the news: Chuck Norris died. It’s hard to believe. As fit as he was, I figured he would make it to at least 100. We first met Chuck in 1997 as sponsors of his inaugural KDOOA (Kick Drugs Out of America) program fundraiser. We raised $2100 to participate as sponsors and took about 10 people with us who were fellow martial artists and customers at the store. Chuck was just as he appeared on the screen: calm, cool, collected, and exuded pure Zen, had a quiet sense of humor. He was so warm and so very kind, especially when a 14-year-old martial artist in our group who was a huge fan, stood in line for 2 hours to meet him. They had to cut off the line in order for him to make another event and she was heartbroken. Never fear! My intrepid biz partner Cricket said she would fix it and made an end run to the back of the building to catch up with him as he was exiting. She quickly related the story of what had happened, and asked him if he might sign the items our young friend brought with her, and he graciously agreed. A kind gesture for a fan that we will never forget. I have watched his films over and over again, as well as many fight reels. My Mom and I used to watch Walker Texas Ranger together. I’ve read countless articles about him and followed his blog and posts online for years. He was such an inspiration in the martial arts to me, and to countless others around the world. Rest in peace, Sir, and thank you for all you’ve done to impact the world. I’m sure you’re yukking it up with Joe Lewis, Bruce Lee, Jhoon Rhee and many others! ❤️
