Spencer Leibick is returning to Arizona State University for his second season playing ACHA hockey. During his senior year of high school, Spencer was selected to Team AZ, helping the team go undefeated with a 5-0 record at the tournament. He credits the experience as a highlight of his time in AHSHA, giving him the chance to play alongside athletes from different schools and build friendships with players he otherwise may not have shared the ice with. We’re excited to see Spencer back on the ice at ASU for another season.

Sam Eklund represented Mountain Ridge in two Championship appearances, being named MVP of the 2024 D2 championship game. This summer, Sam took on a new challenge at Marine Corps Recruit Depot as a Marine recruit. He will attend Weber State University this fall, where he plans to continue his hockey career. We’re proud to follow Sam as he continues to take on new challenges both on and off the ice.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT 🚨 Nathan Kostadina is headed to Virginia next season to continue his hockey career with the Yorktown Admirals of the NCDC.

When asked about his favorite AHSHA memories, Nathan said winning a Division 2 Championship with the Pinnacle Pioneers and traveling to Nationals with the Division 1 team stand out the most.

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT 🚨 Ben Craft is taking his game to the next level! After four seasons with Campo Verde, Ben is headed to Oklahoma City to join the Oklahoma City Warriors of the NA3HL this fall.
His advice to current players: “Have as much fun as you can.”

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT 🚨Tyson Derryberry is headed to Connecticut this fall to continue his hockey career with the Connecticut Nor’Easter of the EHL, a Tier II junior hockey program.

Tyson closes out an era for the Derryberry family, whose name has been a familiar sight within AHSHA since 2016.

During his AHSHA career, Tyson won two State Championships, represented Team Arizona, and earned multiple D1 All-Star and All-State honors.

His advice to current players: “Be yourself and enjoy every moment.”

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT 🚨 Gracie Ortega is staying close to home as she continues her hockey career with Grand Canyon University's Women's Hockey Team.

During her AHSHA career, Gracie earned All-Star honors and was on the first ever Girls Team Arizona.

Her advice to current players: "The sport is a game—do your work, and the fun will come."
