Ybor City Curling Club

This week we lay down our pipes! Who is excited to see the finished product with us? We will make sure to post plenty of pictures and videos of the process here and on our Instagram, so make sure to follow along!

Hi everyone! We wanted to give everyone a bit more information on the volunteer work for putting down the pipes. ISS is asking us to have volunteers from 8 AM - 6 PM all four days (Friday 9/4 - Monday 9/7). We will make sure to provide drinks for everyone and get some bagels for breakfast and sandwiches or similar for lunch so that everyone gets some food. 𝐖𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐚 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐦𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐬𝐦𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐥𝐲. We know that those are long days and everyone has prior commitments, so we appreciate everyone coming out to help us. If you can only make a specific time in that window, we still would love your help!

Just showing a bit of proof of life in picture format! LED lights and boards have been installed, walls are painted, floor has been leveled, and our equipment has been delivered. There is still more to do, but the place is already unrecognizable compared to when we moved in!

Hey everyone! It's been a little while since we gave a full on written update of where everything stands today, so we just wanted to provide a little bit of an update for everyone.

If you have seen from some of the stories we have been posting, construction work inside the facility is ongoing. New LED lights have been put up. The boards have been installed. We gave everything a fresh coat of paint. And this week we are getting the floor re-leveled. Once that is all done, we should have everything ready for the ice installation over Labor Day since our pipes all arrived this week!

From the non-ice side of things, we finally got our finalized mechanical and electrical drawings at the end of last week and are submitting for permitting by the end of this week. We are hoping that permitting should only take a few weeks since we aren't having much done to the place. It does mean the last thing we will have done is the buildout of the Warm Room, but we do think once we get permitting we should be able to breeze through that fairly quickly.

For our website, we have everything built out except for incorporating payments onto our site. We are currently working with a vendor for taking payments. Once we have that finalized, we will be able to start taking memberships, league sign ups, and bonspiel registrations!

As it now ticks into August, we are getting closer to having our ice installed! ISS - Ice, Sports & Solar will be coming out to Tampa to install our pipes the first week of September. We have a few volunteers already lined up, but we could use a few more volunteers from September 4-7 (Friday-Monday) during the day to help us lay down all of the pipes. Please let us know if you would be available any of those days to help with the installation! Even just a single day will help us quite a bit in making sure everything gets laid down successfully and is ready for us to make some ice. We know it is a long holiday weekend so appreciate any time we are able to get, and we hope everyone will consider the end result worth it!

If anyone has taken a peek at our website this morning, you may have noticed something new... we have migrated to our new long term website! Some of it is still under construction (we still have to hook our payment provider into the site and build out the member portal), but hopefully it gives everyone a good glimpse into what our club is going to be! Please feel free to take a look at the site and please let us know if anything looks off or broken.

Some quick facility updates for everyone while we have a few minutes! We have a lot of fun stuff happening this week and will try to get a few good pictures for everyone afterwards. We will be doing the following this week:

- Painting the warehouse
- Framing out the playing surface with wooden boards
- Finish cutting the concrete out where needed in the corner for the chiller
- Get the dehumidifier moved into its correct spot
- Some touchups/repairs on the roof the make sure it is fully sealed for us
- Get the LED lights installed

I know it's slow and we wish it could move faster as well, but we keep making progress and are excited to see it moving slowly but surely.
