This upcoming Friday we will host a belt promotion test. All students testing will need to show their CONFIDENCE! The attitude of believing in yourself. That doesn't mean you can't be scared or nervous, it means regardless of whether you are scared or nervous, you believe you can do it. We can't wait to see all of our students show their confidence off this Friday. YOU CAN DO IT!

It's a bittersweet moment when some of your students leave for university. It is sad that we won't be able to spend time in the dojang together, but it is a proud moment to see how much they have grown and developed. It has been an amazing journey watching andrew grow and mature into an amazing martial artist and human being. Andrew has trained with U.S. Tae Kwon Do for 13 years and it won't feel the same when he's not around. We know that he will continue to make us proud at Washington and Lee University.

This week's philosophy focus is on "SPORTSMANSHIP!" Unfortunately, I believe that we don't see enough sportsmanship in today's most popular sports. If you are learning a sport and you have not learned sportsmanship, then you shouldn't play the game. If you haven't learned sportsmanship, then you have missed the true purpose of what the sport was all about in the first place.
Luckily, sportsmanship is a huge part of Taekwondo and it is built into the sport itself. That does not mean that some taekwondo athletes don't forget about what sportsmanship means. So we need to remember what it means and make sure to practice it in our dojangs, gyms, tournaments, and any other sport that we may play in. Because that is what it means to be a taekwondo athlete.

Please wish Amulya Kuppaa luck as she begins her next stage of learning at UCF. We're so proud of her as a taekwondo student, assistant instructor, and person. We know she will do well in Orlando and we hope she visits U.S. Tae Kwon Do as often as she can. Good luck! 🥋

Our motto at U.S. TAE KWON DO is "Strive for Excellence!" Always reach for the sky. Always self reflect and think of how you can improve. Always come to class with the intent of getting better. That doesn't mean you shouldn't be proud of your accomplishments. It means that when you reach your goals, you can feel accomplished and then decide on what the next goal should be. See you on the mat!
