π‘ Parent Tip Tuesday: Parent Script
When parents say, "Go clean your room," many kids hear one thing:
π¨ "This is too much."
A simple shift in language can make a big difference.
Instead of:
β "Go clean your room."
Try:
β
"What are the three things you want to tackle first?"
This question helps your child break a large task into manageable pieces, build a plan, and take ownership of the process.
The goal isn't just a cleaner roomβit's helping your child develop the executive functioning skills they'll use for a lifetime.
Small coaching moments like this build:
β Planning skills
β Independence
β Problem-solving
β Confidence
What's one task that often feels overwhelming for your child? Let us know below! β¬οΈ

π‘ Parent Tip Tuesday
Did you know?
Students who break big assignments into smaller, manageable steps are more likely to complete them on time and experience less stress along the way.
When your child is feeling overwhelmed, resist the urge to jump in and solve the problem. Instead, help them create a roadmap:
β What's the end goal?
β What are the main steps?
β What's the first small step?
Breaking tasks down builds more than productivityβit strengthens planning, organization, problem-solving, and confidence.
Remember: Success isn't about doing everything at once. It's about knowing what to do next.
What's one task your child has been putting off lately? β¬οΈ

π‘ Parent Tip Tuesday: Parent Script
When a student is overwhelmed, "Just get started" can feel impossible.
Instead, try asking:
π "What's the first step?"
This simple question helps your child pause, think through the task, and identify a manageable starting point. It shifts them from feeling stuck to taking action.
Students with ADHD and executive functioning challenges often know what needs to be doneβthey just struggle with where to begin. Helping them identify the first step builds planning skills, confidence, and independence over time.
Remember: Big projects are completed one small step at a time.
