In this session, we used 3 VertiMax exercises to develop explosive power from different movement patterns:
💥 Ball Slams – Develop total-body power by coordinating the upper and lower body while generating force through the core.
💥 Squat Jumps – Improve lower-body power and vertical force production by emphasizing explosive triple extension.
💥 Broad Jumps – Build horizontal power to improve acceleration, sprinting, and overall athleticism.
Each athlete spent 30 seconds on an exercise for 3 rounds, then rotated until all three completed every station. Although each movement targets power differently, they all begin with the same foundation: a strong, stable base and the ability to produce force through the entire body.
Whether you're a soccer player, basketball player, volleyball player, or compete in another sport, developing power in multiple planes of movement translates to better performance on the field or court.
Build the foundation. Produce more force. Become a more explosive athlete.

The biggest gains in explosiveness don't always come from the biggest jumps.

Many athletes focus on high-intensity plyometrics, but low-amplitude plyometrics are often the missing piece. These quick, controlled movements help athletes:

✔️ Improve stiffness and elasticity for more efficient force transfer
✔️ Develop faster ground contact times
✔️ Build tendon resilience and movement quality
✔️ Create a stronger foundation for higher-intensity power training

The result? Better acceleration, quicker change of direction, and more explosive performance when it matters most.

If you're programming athletes for long-term development, don't overlook the basics. Sometimes the smallest jumps create the biggest improvements.

Adding resistance to training is not about making sprinting harder, it is about teaching your body to produce more force.
Using the VertiMax, we focused on:

Pogos
Jump Squats
Resisted Sprints
Kneeling Sprints
Assisted Sprints

Each exercise attacks speed from a different angle, helping athletes improve force production, acceleration, and sprint mechanics.
The goal is not to just work harder, but it is to move with more intent so that when the resistance comes off, your body is ready to move faster.
Speed is not built from one drill. It is built by consistently exposing your body to the right stimulus.

The first step is often the difference between making the play... or watching someone else make it.

Whether your athlete plays football, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball, tennis, lacrosse, or track, explosive acceleration is one of the most valuable athletic skills they can develop.

VertiMax allows athletes to train that first step under resistance while moving the same way they compete. The result is more explosive starts, quicker reactions, and faster acceleration that carries over to game day.

Because when the first step is faster, everything that follows gets better.

Agility can be the difference between creating space and getting shut down.

If you're looking to improve change of direction, reaction time, and on-field movement, try adding these drills to your training:
⚽ Reactive Cone Drill
⚽ Lateral Shuffle to Sprint
⚽ 180° Turn & Go
⚽ Single-Leg Bound to Cut

Agility isn't just about moving fast, it's about controlling your body, changing direction efficiently, and reacting under pressure.
Which drill is your favorite?

Speed training is surrounded by myths.

"You’re slow because you’re weak."
"Acceleration and top speed are completely separate."
"Acceleration only lasts 10–15 yards."

The reality? Speed is more complex than any one drill, metric, or training philosophy.

Real speed comes from applying force efficiently, moving with sound mechanics, and training with purpose.

In our latest blog, we break down five common speed training myths and what athletes and coaches should focus on instead.

Want a faster swing? ⚾️

Work on speed and power through better movement and force production.

Train the patterns, not just the outcome with these drills:
1. Shuffle step to Banded Rotation. The athlete performs a controlled lateral shuffle and transitions immediately into an explosive rotational pull to develop lateral quickness and transverse plane power.
2. Split Stance Trap Bar Deadlift. The athlete is driving through his front leg while maintaining hip and trunk stability to build unilateral strength and force production.
3. Broad Jump. The athlete is loading through the hips and explosively jumps forward, emphasizing triple extension and controlled landing mechanics to improve horizontal power.
4. SL Glute Bridge. The athlete is driving through his heels to extend the hips while maintaining pelvic stability and glute activation.

⚾ Follow for more drills to take power, speed and agility to the next level!
