🥝 TEAM KIWI STRONG 🏐

As we prepared for Wave 2 of the AAU Boys National Championships, one of our own faced a loss no child should ever have to endure.

Just before the tournament began, Joey Hanto ( #11, Gentlemen of Kiwi 15) received the heartbreaking news that his father had unexpectedly passed away. Tragically, it was also Joey’s 15th birthday.

Despite unimaginable grief, Joey made the decision to stand beside his teammates. He stepped onto the court with incredible courage, resilience, & heart—playing not only for his team, but in honor of his dad. We know his father would have been incredibly proud. 🩵

Joey, we want you to know how proud we are of you. Your strength, your character, & your love for your teammates have inspired everyone around you. TEAM Kiwi stands beside you today & in the days ahead. You are family.

Throughout the tournament, Joey’s mom showed extraordinary strength as well. While supporting Joey every chance she could, she was also traveling between Tampa & Orlando to handle funeral arrangements & the countless responsibilities that come with such an unexpected loss. Her love & dedication never wavered.

The volleyball community has always been about more than wins & losses. It is about family. Today, we are asking our TEAM Kiwi family & the entire volleyball community to surround Joey & his mom with the same love & support they have shown others. 💚
