How to hit sharp cross.. but in front of the 10 foot line!
A common mistake hitters make when trying to hit 4x4 is turning their body like they’re hitting deep cross, then contacting the ball outside their body with their thumb down. This forces the arm to swing outside their body in an unnatural arm path and creates significant stress on the shoulder joint, which can lead to pain or injury over time.
To help maintain shoulder health and create the correct angle, we teach our athletes to stay open and finish facing 4x4.
Keeping the left arm closer to the body helps limit how much the hips rotate, which then limits how much the shoulders rotate, allowing the arm to swing through the ball to 4x4 creating the sharp cross-court hit.
We appreciate this athlete, who has been training with us for two years and travels from Atlanta to continue developing her game.
If you want your athlete to learn how to hit the 4x4 or other scoring options, use the link in our bio to schedule a clinic or lesson.

A common passing mistake we see is facing your target on serve receive. This leads to passing behind the setter instead of passing in front of the setter.
Instead, face where the ball is coming from and angle your platform (shoulders), to your target!
Remember to get your angle out early and hands together last for the last minute adjustments due to floats!
Edge passing clinics are live beginning next week!
Thankful to this athlete who drove from Orlando to train with us. She made varsity as a freshman!!
