Course Improvement Underway: Greens Aerification July 13–15 ⛳

This month, we'll complete our final major greens aerification of the season. While this process may cause some temporary disruption, it's one of the most important maintenance practices we perform each year to keep our putting surfaces healthy and playing their best.

Please note: Southwood Golf Club will have modified operating hours July 13–15 while our agronomy team completes this important work.

During aerification, we remove approximately 20% of the green's surface area to relieve soil compaction, reduce thatch, and improve air and water movement throughout the root zone. We'll also apply a heavy sand topdressing to fill the holes, create smoother putting surfaces, and encourage healthy turf recovery.

Our agronomy team will also:
• Spike-and-slice aerify the fairways
• Verticut the tees to improve turf density
• Apply granular fertility to the greens, tees, and collars to promote strong, consistent growth

These essential practices are an investment in the long-term health of the golf course and will help deliver firmer, smoother, and more consistent playing conditions in the months ahead.
