Helping hand
From the Everglades straight to the big tank! FWC fisheries biologists teamed up with Bass Pro Shops Dania Beach for a special collection mission to refill their 30,000 gallon in-store aquarium! The tank was stocked with native Florida bass, bowfin, and redear sunfish. Fish were collected from canals in Water Conservation Area 3 near Everglades Holiday Park in Broward County. Once fish arrived successfully a technician took over to get them settled into their new home. Visit the store and you may see one! Fish graphics by Duane Raver, Jr.

TrophyCatch at ICAST
TrophyCatch is spending the week at the ICAST fishing trade show promoting Florida bass fishing fun and conservation! It's an annual opportunity to showcase Florida fishing and make new contacts within the ever-growing sport fishing industry. TrophyCatch is grateful for our industry partners like Bass Pro Shops and many others who make the program possible and invest in aquatic conservation and the future of fishing.

Cloudy day catch
Not EVERY day is sunny in the Sunshine State — Florida needs rainy days too. However, the fish don't seem to mind! Kenneth Sammons caught-and-released this 9 pound Lunker Club specimen in Madison County! We're sure this fish provided a silver lining to the cloudy day. Nicely done, Kenneth!

Gold rush! This year the Florida Bass Conservation Center at Richloam Hatchery stocked golden shiner fry into their hatchery ponds. In the hatchery ponds the fry will be fed a commercial diet as well as forage on zooplankton and other supplemental food sources naturally occurring in the ponds. Once they are large enough, they will be collected and stocked into public waterbodies as a prime forage species to help support Florida ecosystems and grow trophy sized bass.

Palm Beach porker
Porter caught this 8 lbs. 15 oz. hawg in a Palm Beach County community pond! "Caught my PB with my dad’s craw and he taught me everything he knows, and now he’s jealous I have beaten his PB." We think some family competition is great when it involves fishing, and no matter who catches the big one everyone comes away with new memories. Nicely done, Porter, and we look forward to even bigger catches from both you and your dad!
