CONGRATULATIONS Jason Tanner !!!! Jason was just promoted to his Shodan-Ho black belt last night!! We are so proud of you brother keep up the great work! This man is a perfect example of what a black belt is and should be. He’s tough as nails, humble as can be and an absolute beast of a fighter inside and out! We are thankful to have you as part of our dojo family. 👊
This was part of what was used by one our students that kept him safe from what could have resulted in a very different outcome.
Could not be more proud of our student for handling an escalated situation perfectly! He is completely safe and the attacker got to quickly learn some life lessons. Unfortunately in life bad people don’t always get to meet people who are trained and prepared to stop them. This results in very different endings to these stories. We have a responsibility to prepare ourselves and our children for situations like this because they do happen. The greater your level of competence, the increased likelihood of leaving situations like this safely.

If you are not capable of competent violence this actually makes you more dangerous and not in a good way. It prevents you from being able to stop evil people from doing bad things. We all know there is no shortage of evil in the world. What the world needs is more good people. People trained in competent violence.

In all seriousness communication is one of the most important keys to any relationship. It can be a spouse, partner, parent, child, sibling, co worker, boss, friend it does not matter. Asking for clarification is crucial. It can be as simple as saying, “When you say this it made me feel…” more often than not you will find you are on the same side and there is no need to build animosity over miscommunication.
