Sumter Speedway recap 7/11

After a significant rain delay track officials and fellow racers began getting to work getting the track to race worthy condition.

Crew chief Kyle Loader had the 15 car dialed in from out of the trailer and we clocked in 2nd fastest in hot laps just barely missing quick time by a few hundredths.

Heat race we drew a horrible pill and started P5 and began to dig for every spot we could grab on a narrow race track successfully passing 3 cars finishing P2 and making the all important main event redraw.

Main we redrew 6 out of 6 not ideal but knowing we had a very fast car we rolled onto the track with confidence and determination.

The starts in these races are crucial and the race into turn 1 is very demanding after going 3 wide for P4 we got shuffled back to 7th and began searching around the track for the most grip and noticed the track was pumping moisture in both ends with that knowledge we started backing corner entry up to get a good launch down the straights and worked our way up to P5 when the driver decided to pull all of his tear offs with 1 pull 🤦‍♂️. After that mis cue I decided it was best to just preserve what we have and not take a chance on wrecking myself or another competitor and we would finish P5.

Not a bad weekend at all though, finally after 5 attempts we finished a race at our home track formally plagued by part failures or accidents, a big congratulations to Robert Tyler on his first Carolina Sprint Tour victory!!

Also it was amazing having so many of my friends and brothers and sisters in arms from Shaw Air Force Base coming out to show their support!

Finally thanks to my mother for driving all the way down from central PA to surprise me and being at the race track.

🧍‍♂️ Spectators should arrive before 5:30 to be sure not to miss any of the action. CASH only establishment. No ANIMALS, glass bottles, or outside food. 6 pack cooler per person allowed!
🚙 Drivers Window CLOSES at 5:00 SHARP. LATE fee added if you come to register after window closes. If you are running late, please let us know by phone!
🔥 Reminder: if you are renting a transponder from the track, ♥️ you are REQUIRED TO HAVE A POUCH. NO POUCH, no transponder of ours. We will be checking before qualifying. You can purchase a transponder pouch from the track if needed. (While supplies LAST!)

This Saturday at Sumter Speedway we will have even more extra money in the pot for our drivers this weekend besides our awesome contingency program.

No racing for the 15 Team this weekend, instead we are planning on heading to Sumter Speedway to see some super late models and weekly divisions.
