A common myth says weâre less happy the older we get, slogging through a long, unhappy decline.
But in fact, many people get happier.
A 2024 AARP survey found that 44% of adults over 50 say theyâve become happier as theyâve aged. Women were especially likely to say so. Another survey found that 86% of people over 50 describe themselves as happy, with happiness increasing after 65.
Women report feeling better about themselves. More than three-quarters of women over 50 say theyâve become more comfortable in their own skin, while 68% say theyâve grown significantly into their authentic selves.
What makes us happier? Relationships, hobbies, adequate sleep, travel, music, healthy eating â and exercise. Forty percent of adults over 50 specifically cite exercise as a contributor.
Thatâs one more reason fitness matters as we age.
Exercise can make us stronger, improve energy and mood, and help us maintain the physical ability to enjoy everything else that makes life rewarding. Travel is more fun when you can walk all day. Hobbies and sports are easier when youâre strong and mobile. And staying fit helps us remain independent and engaged with other people.
Getting older is unavoidable. Feeling old before your time isnât.
Weâre here to help you stay strong, active and ready to enjoy what could be some of your happiest years yet.

Those small choices add up. â€ïž
As we get older, wellness isnât about chasing perfectionâitâs about building a life that helps us feel strong, connected, capable, and fulfilled.

This one is a great reminder that sometimes progress starts with simply being willing to change something. đȘ
If the same routine isnât giving you the results you want, that doesnât mean you need to work harder and harder at it. Maybe itâs time for a different approach.
Try a new exercise. Add some strength training. Get a little more consistent. Ask for some guidance. Even a small change can get things moving in a better direction.
And especially as we get older, the goal isnât to keep doing what worked 20 years ago. Itâs to find what helps us feel strong, capable, and confident today.
Keep moving forward, Primetimers. One smart change at a time. đ

Barry ran his first marathon at 49 and recently registered for his 10th.
But about two years ago, a hospitalization forced him to make serious health changes. He joined a gym not long after that, working out three days a week. Now 65, he recently hit his 100th workout.
Heâd tried strength training before but is thriving now with coaching.
"The trainers are on you with the little things, proper form," he says. "It has made me so much stronger physically and also mentally fit. I wouldn't have gotten a kayak unless I knew I was capable of doing it."
Barry bikes and kayaks now, activities that once felt out of reach. The strength work has paid off in his running, too, improving both performance and recovery after races.
Heâs found it helps to work out with a group of friendly regulars. And he enjoys group outings together on holidays and other occasions. The social aspect is helpful to Barry, as it is for many people over 50.
âWe challenge each other, and that's a helpful tactic,â he says. "The involvement with the other members is a must for me."
One hundred workouts in, Barry isn't slowing down â he's just getting stronger. Want to see what strength training can do for you, too? Call us today and letâs get going!
