Golden Bey El dropped a comment that stopped me — "D2 is the new D1" — and I had to explore it.

So, I went straight to the source. Ty Banda, linebacker at University of Tennessee Martin, is living proof that the path to the next level runs through intentionality, readiness, and knowing exactly what makes you different — not just being the best player on your high school field.
Three things Ty said that every high school athlete needs to hear right now:

Be intentional with every interaction — coaches remember impressions, not stats sheets
Be college ready before you get there — the portal means your spot can disappear overnight
Know specifically what you're good at — "I'm good at football" is not a recruiting strategy

The college game is a business. The athletes who understand that early are the ones who make it.
Thank you for inspiring today's question. 🙏

Every week, we hear from parents carrying the same quiet fear:

“My kid works hard. They love the game. But nobody is calling.”

Recently, a mom reached out about her sophomore daughter — a 5’7” women’s basketball player with strong work ethic, solid size, and a dream of playing at the next level. But there was one thing keeping the family awake at night:

No offers. No calls. No clear direction.

Like many families, they felt stuck between hope and uncertainty.

What made this situation even more stressful was the pressure parents feel to “do everything right” in recruiting. Camps. Showcases. Social media. Emails. Highlights. Test scores. Timelines. NCAA rules. It becomes overwhelming fast.

So instead of chasing random advice online, they ran their situation through the SACKRAT Framework.

And something important happened.

The framework didn’t just give motivation — it gave clarity.

The first realization was this: their daughter was not “out of the race.” She was simply early in the process and lacking structure, visibility, and a plan.

That changed the entire mindset.

Together, we identified the real priorities:
• Build a professional highlight reel coaches can evaluate quickly
• Organize transcripts, test scores, and athletic information into one clean profile
• Create a targeted outreach list instead of waiting to be discovered
• Start direct communication with coaches now, not later
• Schedule campus visits to understand program fit and opportunities
• Develop a weekly follow-up system so recruiting becomes intentional instead of emotional

One of the biggest breakthroughs for this family was understanding that recruiting is rarely passive. Talent matters, but visibility and timing matter too.

The framework also helped them stop comparing their daughter’s journey to social media highlight culture. Instead of focusing on who already had offers, they focused on controllable actions they could take immediately.

By the end of the conversation, the fear had shifted into direction.

Not because guarantees were made.

But because they finally had a roadmap.

That is what families need most during recruiting — not hype, not promises, but a process they can follow with confidence.

For parents trying to figure out what comes next, we created the free Sackrat Profile so families can test the process, organize their information, and start understanding where they stand before making bigger recruiting decisions.

SACKRAT Profile — Free Recruiting Snapshot S (Stance) and T (Today) are AI-personalized to your exact situation — free. Run the SACKRAT Engine to unlock all 7 steps for $4.99.

Most recruiting advice online is surface level. "Email coaches." "Post your highlights." "Get your GPA up."

None of that is wrong. But none of it is a framework.

Here's a real situation I received this week from a parent, a senior WR in East Texas. 4.7 forty. 14 touchdowns. 3.7 GPA. Has Hudl film. Zero D1 offers. His question: "Why is nobody calling?"

The answer isn't about his talent. It's about the process his family is missing.

Real recruiting work in 2026 looks like this:
Knowing and auditing which D1 and FCS programs in your region have actually watched your film (not just received it)
Identifying 15 schools where the depth chart has a gap for YOUR skill set
Understanding transfer portal windows so you know which scholarship spots are even available to a high school athlete
Documenting your full recruiting timeline so nothing falls through the cracks

This is one phase of a 7-step process we use called the SACKRAT Framework. It was built for athletes, parents, coaches, ADs, counselors, or anyone just trying to figure out what the next step actually is.

Recruiting is not magic. It's CONSISTENT work. But the right framework makes the work clear.

Save this post if you're in the middle of the process.
