Thank you, Burton💙

As Burton celebrates it’s 50th anniversary, we were incredibly grateful to be gifted an original Backhill board from the Burton archives, built right here in Manchester, Vermont, a special piece of snowboarding history.

In 1983, Stratton became the first major ski resort to welcome snowboarding, thanks to pioneer Jake Burton Carpenter. Just two years later, Stratton began hosting the Burton U.S. Open, which called the mountain home for nearly 30 years.

From building boards in his Londonderry barn to testing his creations on our slopes, Jake truly shaped snowboarding into what it is today.

Snowboarding runs deep at Stratton, and we’re proud to be part of the story. Thank you Jake for all you have done. 💙🏂

Did you know Arnold Palmer helped put Stratton golf on the map? ⛳

Back in the 1970s, Arnold Palmer helped launch the Stratton Golf Academy, where young golfers spent their summers building their game. 🙌 The academy became so popular that sessions had waiting lists. During this time Palmer himself would make summer visits to meet the next generation of golfers.

Then in the ’90s, some of the biggest names in women’s golf came to Stratton for the McCall’s LPGA Classic, which ran for six years and crowned a different champion each year. 🏌️‍♀️

From Arnold Palmer to the LPGA, there’s some serious golf history behind these 27 holes. 👀
