Armed versus unarmed conflict undeniably stacks the odds against the unarmed combatant, but the reality is that people have their weapons taken away from them all the time.

Yamate-ryū Aikijutsu contains many techniques to both retain a weapon, and to take a weapon away from an opponent. Earlier this week, we practiced a few of our tachi-dori techniques.
