The Southern Texas Section of the PGA of America is comprised of over 800 golf professionals representing over 300 facilities in Southern Texas. Our geographic area includes Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Beaumont, Bryan/College Station, Corpus Christi and the Rio Grande Valley. The purpose of our organization is to promote enjoyment and involvement in the game of golf, and to contribute to its growth by providing services to golf professionals and the golf industry.

For Travis Short, PGA, the road to a career in golf was shaped by family tradition, athletics, meaningful mentors and a determination to prove that no one else could define what he was capable of achieving.
After earning both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Schreiner University, Travis found his way back to the game during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, he serves as First Assistant Golf Professional at Plum Creek Golf Course, where he continues to prioritize relationships, respect and a genuine love for the game over titles.
