The Opener 2026 brought together 221 athletes, 8 officials and 339 spectators for a great day of competition, community and giving back.

Together, the event raised $2,486.40 for wildfire relief efforts in the Spokane area.

Thank you to every athlete, official, spectator, volunteer and partner who helped make the opener a success and showed what’s possible when our sports community comes together to support our neighbors. 🙌🏻

We caught up with Mark Thompson, Chief Operations Officer of USA Table Tennis, to talk about what it means for Spokane to host a world-class table tennis event and why bringing events like this to our community is such a big deal.

This is the kind of event that puts Spokane in the spotlight, and we’re pretty excited about it.

Spokane, we’re with you.

The wildfires have devastated communities across our region. Our hearts are with everyone who has lost a home, been displaced or is facing uncertainty, and with the first responders working tirelessly to protect our community.

Spokane Sports is committing $5,000 to support local first responders. Now, we’re asking our community to help us raise at least another $5,000, with the hope of going well beyond our initial $10,000 goal.

Donations will be collected through the Spokane Sports Community Impact Fund and distributed to local organizations supporting first responders and wildfire relief efforts.

If you’re able to contribute, please join us: https://www.spokanesports.org/wildfire-relief

This is one way we can show up for the people who continue to show up for Spokane.
