September 11 is a day that carries more than one scar for our nation.
On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 lives were taken in the terrorist attacks on our country. We remember the innocent lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the countless Americans whose lives were forever changed.
Eleven years later, on September 11, 2012, Americans were attacked in Benghazi, Libya. We remember Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, Sean Smith, Tyrone Woods, and Glen Doherty four Americans who never made it home.
Different places. Different battles. The same date etched into American history.
Today isn’t about politics. It’s about remembrance.
Remember those we lost.
Remember those who answered the call.
Remember the courage shown in the face of unimaginable evil.
Remember the families who still carry their absence.
September 11, 2001.

Some dates should never become just another day on the calendar.
