And yes, Irish dancers train like athletes.
⚡Only 1 in 3 girls ages 6-12 participate in sports on a regular basis
⚡ 40% of teen girls are not actively participating in any kind of sport
⚡Annually, male high school athletes receive 1.13 million more sport opportunities than their female counterparts
Irish dancing is overwhelmingly dominated by girls and women which is amazing, but we can't forget how women's sports are still seen and perceived at large.
Irish dancers are strong not just physically, but mentally. They are confident, resilient, and hard working. It doesn't receive funding or scholarships for growth and development like many high school sports so participants self-fund their journeys and dancers keep at it because they love it ♥️
