As some of the onlookers remembered during this scene yesterday, this isn't even the first time that three horses have joined in for one of our races! The same thing happened in 2006 at the Kaynor Sap Run!

Three animals from neighboring farm ran alongside the lead runner during "Pump It Up" race.

One for the history books in Jericho!

Three loose ponies wandered onto the course just as the men’s leader came into the final stretch at today’s GMAA Pump It Up! 5 Miler. What followed was a finish line moment nobody will forget: competition, chaos, and pure Vermont charm all in the same frame.

Men’s winner Neal Graves held strong through the final corner to take the win in 29:11. Women’s winner Heather Feldman followed in 31:30.

And then there was the deeper story of the day.

Three athletes over the age of 80 took on the full five-mile course and finished with grit and determination that defined the event.

Ted McKnight, 81, 51:02
Bob Murphy, 86, 1:00:47
Peter Mitchell, 86, 1:07:02

From front-runners to first-time racers to veteran finishers in their 80s, the same roads carried everyone. That is the heart of this race.

Held under clear May skies on the roads of Jericho and Essex, 73 runners crossed the line at this year’s Pump It Up! 5 Miler.

Thank you to the volunteers, the Town of Jericho, Jericho Elementary School, , , and club sponsors and for making it all possible.

Join the workout this Saturday at 11AM at the UVM indoor track for a special guest appearance from !

UnTapped is returning in 2026 as the official hydration and fuel partner for GMAA. They will be in attendance at this week's indoor track workout to share miles, smiles, and samples of Mapleaid hydration and UnTapped gels!

This is an opportunity open to all GMAA members. Parking is in the lower Gutterson lot, similar to where we park during the outdoor track workouts. Please enter the track through the side entrance by the soccer field (under the gym on the second floor), and we will meet on the lower track. There will be a scheduled workout, but you can also just jog on the track if you would like.
