Jason and Lauren Pak Fitness

Jason and Lauren Pak Fitness www.achievefitnessboston.com Achieve Fitness opened in November of 2012. We've found this model to be highly effective already in terms of results and adherence.

We wanted to come up with an updated gym model where our members would be put in the best possible position to succeed. Achieve Fitness is an all-inclusive gym where members receive training sessions with a coach once a week in a semi-private setting (up to 3 people). Our members also receive an individualized workout program (changes every 4-6 weeks to prevent plateaus) that they can perform on their own during our open gym hours. Memberships include unlimited access to our unique group exercise classes that utilize a variety of tools such as sleds, kettlebells, medicine balls, TRX, etc. We're constantly improving and tweaking our system to help our members reach their full potential. We want to redefine your gym experience!

What’s up, Achievers?!

Heres an article I contributed to for Self Magazine of Condé Nast and we couldn’t be happier with how it came out. The writer, Amy Marturana, put it together in a way that was so approachable, relatable, validating, and positive.

Kudos to Self for also choosing actual lifters who can demonstrate exercises with technical proficiency - not just those who look a certain way.

According to Amy, this might be the *first* barbell post ever to be published by Self so that’s pretty cool!

Please share with a friend who might be intimidated by barbells and/or strength training, but you know would be an absolute rock star!

What's up Achievers?! Recently, Achieve owner Lauren Pak was asked to contribute to two articles for MyFitnessPal!

The first article is on the topic of periodization and how it is usually one of the big missing links when it comes to seeing results (specifically strength gains) in the gym!

https://blog.myfitnesspal.com/your-strength-workouts-might-be-missing-this-one-ingredient/

The second was on the topic of two-a-day workouts and Lauren was asked about her opinion on whether or not they're good/bad/necessary. As always, the answer was, "it depends" but the author did a great job of explaining when and why they might be appropriate, and when and why they might not!

https://blog.myfitnesspal.com/should-you-work-out-two-times-a-day/

This is the key to making consistent strength-training progress.

CAN’T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?!
-
What’s up, Achievers?! here with a quick PSA to coaches! I’ve really come to respect and admire all of you out there fighting the good fight. You’d be hard pressed to find a more dedicated and passionate bunch than coaches. The hours are a grind, you have to be 100% ON every single session, and you constantly have to prioritize the needs of your athletes/clients/members over yourselves. To top it all of, everyone asks you why you’re so exhausted after working a “normal” 40 hour workweek when you probably just “workout” all day, and also when you’re going to get a “real” job. Yet, we push through, we still absolutely LOVE the process, and strive to get better everyday.
-
The problem is when all that fiery passion you have turns into dogma. You see another coach propose a different way or try to bring value to their community through a different lens other than your own and it really upsets you. There’s a ✅ mark next to all the coaches in the video above, because they’re all right. All of them! They all get unbelievable results with the people they work with - they all have dedicated their lives into shaping a healthier and fitter world! We shouldn’t be fighting each other, we should be working and collaborating with one another! Pull from the experiences of others and use it to enhance your own - it’s the only way we can all grow as an industry, and the only way we can truly scale what we want to do which is to make the world a healthier place!
-
So, to all you powerlifting, oly, gymnastics, spinning, Barry's Bootcamp, Crossfit, kettlebell, insert-methodology-here coaches out there - keep doing you. And remember that someone else who expresses a different viewpoint just has a different set of experiences than you, they probably work with a completely different population from you that responds to their method. At the end of the day, they most likely still have the best interests of their people at heart. Unless of course, that someone is just in it for the money - then shame on them. But I’m convinced we make up the majority, and that the cream rises to the top.
-
Until next time, Peace, Love, and Muscles! ✌️💙💪
