Desiree has been putting in a ton of work getting ready for Boston
Between our in-person sessions and her personalized online coaching, the goal has been to make sure she is actually prepared for the demands of hybrid racing and not just going through random workouts
So on Sunday, we put her through her first HYROX-style sim
And she absolutely crushed it!
The biggest thing I wanted from the day was for her to get a real feel for pacing, transitions, how the stations hit when you are already tired, and what we still need to clean up before race day
Now we have a much better idea of where she is at and what we need to focus on next
Really proud of the work she has been putting in and excited to see it all come together in Boston
Train with purpose. Show up prepared.
And shoutout to Jennifer Dixon Nielsen for helping me put on an awesome sim!

Reflected on 33 yesterday
It’s hard to believe another year has already gone by
Looking back, 32 was one hell of a year
It started with one of the hardest decisions i’ve ever made. Closing my gym. At the time, i had no idea what was next, and that scared the hell out of me. I just knew i wanted to keep coaching and bet on myself.
That decision led me to Gold’s Gym, where i’ve been able to continue building my business and become part of an incredible community. Looking back now, it ended up being exactly where i was supposed to be.
Around that same time, we started 631 Run Club. Watching it grow from a small idea into the community it is today has honestly been one of the most rewarding things i’ve ever been a part of. Seeing familiar faces every week, watching friendships form, and helping people chase goals together has reminded me why i love doing this.
On the athletic side, i found my love for training again. I set a new half marathon PR, improved my HYROX time, and started believing bigger goals were possible.
Then…I got humbled
Right before my next race, i got hurt.
At first it was frustrating. But looking back, i think i needed it. It reminded me not to take movement for granted and that being able to train every day is a privilege, not something we’re owed. It also forced me to slow down, be patient, and trust the process. Lessons that i will carry with me long after my hip is fully healed.
But non of that compares to the biggest moment of the year.
In May, i married my best friend
Getting ti start this next chapter with her, while being surrounded by family and friends that constantly support and push me to be better, is something i’ll never take for granted.
If there’s one i was to carry into 33, it’s gratitude.
Gratitude for:
-the people around me
-the opportunities i’ve been given
-for the hard seasons that help shape who i am
And gratitude that i get to wake up everyday and do something that i genuinely love
A year can change your life if you’re willing to out your head down and keep showing up. Even when you don’t know exactly where it’s going.
But more than anything…
I’m just grateful.

HYROX NY got a lot of people fired up, and I love that.
But before you start throwing random hard workouts together, understand that HYROX prep needs structure.
It’s not just about doing sleds, wall balls, burpees, and hard circuits until you’re smoked.
-You need to build your running capacity.
-You need strength endurance that holds up under fatigue.
-You need to practice running after stations.
-You need pacing discipline so race day doesn’t turn into survival mode too early.
That’s the difference between training hard and training with purpose.
If HYROX NY made you want to sign up, take your next race more seriously, or finally understand how to prepare the right way, I put together a free guide to help you start.

Train with purpose.
Show up prepared.

Back to regularly scheduled programming
One week out from my third HYROX race
Truthfully, this prep has not been as dialed in as I would have liked. Life got in the way a bit — but for good reason
Still, race day is race day
Not every build is perfect
Not every prep feels ideal
But you show up anyway, you compete, and you learn what is there
Wishing the best of luck to everyone racing this weekend and next, especially the athletes from my Classes and my online HYROX Athletes

Married my best friend this past Friday
Surrounded by our favorite people in one of our favorite places
Couldn’t have asked for a better trip

What changed from New York to Chicago?
A lot
In New York, I learned the hard way what I was not prepared for
One of the biggest things being muscular endurance and how quickly things can fall apart when your legs are not ready to keep producing under fatigue
By Chicago, things felt a lot more controlled
Not because the race got easier
Because my training got better
More structure
More intention
More work that actually carried over to race day
That is the difference
A lot of athletes want better results, but they keep training in a way that does not address what actually broke down in the race
For me, New York exposed it
Chicago showed the progress
And there is still a lot more work to do

This is what structured training actually looks like.
Slide 1 — My training
Slide 2 — Athletes I coach
Different sessions. Same intention.
Every piece has a purpose:
-Running under fatigue
-Station exposure
-Controlled intensity
-Building an engine that holds up under pressure
It’s not random workouts.
It’s progression.
That’s how you go from guessing…to showing up on race day prepared and confident.
