st carbs aren’t the problem. Eating them by themselves often is. Pair carbohydrates with protein and healthy fats to improve satiety, stabilize blood sugar, and avoid the energy crash that follows. A banana with peanut butter beats a banana alone. Oatmeal with eggs beats oatmeal alone. Just like people thrive with support, carbs perform better with company. Before eating a carb, ask yourself: What’s the protein? What’s the fat?

Most people focus on what they eat.
I also pay attention to what they eat it with.
Here’s one of the simplest nutrition habits you can start today:
Never eat carbs alone.
Pair carbohydrates with protein, healthy fats, or fiber to help slow digestion, promote steadier blood sugar, and keep you feeling satisfied longer.
🍎 Apple + almond butter
🍓 Berries + Greek yogurt
🥣 Oatmeal + coconut oil
Small habits practiced consistently usually beat complicated diets.
What carb do you eat by itself most often?

This is why I do this.
This morning, I was out biking with a FaceTime client when I passed a woman on the bike path.
As we went by each other, she smiled and said, “I’m out here because of you!”
I honestly couldn’t stop smiling.
You spend a lot of time creating content and sometimes wonder if it’s actually making a difference. Then something like this happens, and it reminds you why you started in the first place.
If even one person is healthier, stronger, or even just takes a single walk because of something I’ve shared, it’s worth it. Btw, next time we passed each other, she was jogging. Go get it girl! 👊
Thank you for following along. Let’s keep moving.
Most people think their morning coffee is the first thing they need. Your stomach might disagree.
Coffee helps stimulate the release of hydrochloric acid (HCl), which is essential for digestion. But if there’s no food in your stomach, that acid may be more likely to irritate the protective mucus lining, especially if you’re prone to heartburn or stomach discomfort.
A simple habit can help:
💧 Drink about 10 ounces of water before your coffee.
🥚 If you’re not fasting, have a little real food first.
It’s a small change that may make your morning routine a lot easier on your digestive system.
Do you drink your coffee first thing on an empty stomach, or do you eat first?

Can Money Buy Happiness? The Answer Might Surprise You - Can money buy happiness? Learn how health, purpose, generosity, and meaningful spending can lead to a more fulfilling life.
Today’s mobility lesson comes from my toughest coach… my 6-year-old.
Watching her drop into a split is a good reminder that flexibility and mobility aren’t the same thing.
Flexibility is your ability to get into a position.
Mobility is your ability to control that position with strength and stability.
You don’t need to be able to do the splits. But you do want enough mobility to move well, stay active, and reduce your risk of injury as you get older.
Which do you think you need more of—flexibility or mobility?
We’ve all heard the saying:
“Money can’t buy happiness.”
I think that’s only half the story.
The real question isn’t whether money can buy happiness—it’s how you use it.
Do you agree or disagree?
👇 I’d love to hear your thoughts.

You’ve probably heard that money can’t buy happiness.
I think that’s only partially true.
Money may not create lasting happiness when it’s spent on more stuff, status, or keeping up with the Joneses. But it absolutely can increase happiness when it’s used to reduce stress, create meaningful experiences, support causes you believe in, or help other people.
In this week’s Biking With Mike, I share my thoughts on the relationship between money, purpose, and happiness.

A 60-minute walk says:
“I exercised today.”
Five 10-minute walks say:
“I chose my health five separate times today.”
Here’s what the research says about walking frequency vs. duration. 🚶♂️👇
