Great News Update!!

We have been officially accepted as a MagiKids (MTG nonprofit that gives out cards and accessories to school/teen clubs) organization.

What does that mean? Essentially- more stuff! They donate cards and accessories and more to help support clubs across the country!

So, a huge shout out to MagiKids! Thank you all for the upcoming support for events, gifts, and prizes!

PS- Don’t forget we have TWO events at the Library this month! Watch for more info…

They’re just merfolk right? They’re cute too! Don’t mind me… I’m just setting things up. There’s a surprise (boom) for my “midrange” play style coming soon!

Things have been going great here at Slinger Community Library, but we are really excited to ramp up our promotions and events as family vacations and summer comes to an end, so things settle down.

We are here at the Library every 4th Wednesday of the month (with potential for more time/space), and special Saturday events.

So be on the lookout for some exciting things coming your way! We’re so excited to see your teen come learn and or play MTG. There’s always the possibility of prizes.

Finally - if any teens would like to play but can’t make it to the official Library events- we are available for one on one tutoring, open play, etc.

Please note that any extra events and coaching are not officially Library events. They’re kind enough to let us use the space if it’s available.

If your teen is interested in playing or getting together for some coaching/play- please send us a message*

*Please note that we do not speak directly with teens, at least until the parent/guardian feels comfortable with us doing so, and even then we keep it to a minimum. We respect that teens can be vulnerable, so we are committed to providing a safe and challenging yet rewarding space to learn and grow. Not just in the game, but in our mental health as well!

Teens! Can’t make it the last Wednesday each month at 3pm but still want to learn? Watch out for Saturday events, but feel free to have a parent or guardian reach out so that we can figure something out such as hanging at the library at an alternate time, etc.

Life’s hard. Life altering events happen to folks every day, both positive and negative… but don’t give up when things are down. You’re stronger than you realize and your worth is immeasurable!

Celebrate the victories, and use them as benchmarks on how life is going. Then look back when things aren’t going so great and realize, no matter what happens, as long as you’re here- you have a life worth living. Do what you can to take care of your mental health, and support those in your circle when they need a boost.

Self-Care= Taking care of yourself consistently- love yourself daily with small, consistent things that help long term (hygiene, medication compliance, etc)

Self-Love = moments and events to provide a bigger, special boost (go to your favorite salon, plan a staycation, etc)

Take care of yourself - use that special shampoo/perfume/cologne you’ve been holding on to, look good feel good!

Love yourself today- you deserve it

I have to admit, playing Magic at 9am feels a little strange, but we had a blast!

Thanks for everyone who came out! Special shoutout goes to my buddy Jacob who joined as a teacher/fqcilitator. We LOVE our volunteers and try to treat them well with gifts and such!

Be on the lookout for more events in the future!

*If you (a teen) would like to play outside of official Library events, we can do that! Just note that the library only sponsors official events, not tutor/play sessions like these. If you’re interested please have a Parent or Guardian contact us!!* We do NOT talk directly with teens through social media, etc., especially teens new to the group.

Today is the day for regular club play! Plenty of learn-to-play options as well as playing 1:1 games or commander group (4 ppl) play.

Don’t forget! This Saturday from 9a-12p at Slinger Library we will also have some open-play or a constructed event, depending on attendance.

Experienced players; stop by if you have time to give a hand/tips/pointers. We certainly don’t have a monopoly over teaching beginners lol. Otherwise, send some younger and/or newer players to the Slinger Community Library, and let’s nurture the next generation of MTG players, unless they want to play mono-blue…
