In pole, we work a lot of different muscle groups and soreness is inevitable at times. Here are a few tips that will help alleviate soreness after a class:
*Stay hydrated during and after your pole training session.
*Eat the right foods after a class. Proper foods are essential to your recovery (quality proteins & healthy fats).
*Soak in Epsom salt (pouring about 4 cups into a warm bath will help tremendously). RELAX! You deserve it.
*Move your body. Don’t just let soreness settle. Move around a little bit. Turn your radio on and dance to your favorite song or go for a nice quiet walk and reflect on your accomplishments that got you sore in the first place.
Please note: If you have pole kisses (bruises), you can ice the affected area for about ten minutes and repeat as needed. You can also use creams (Traumeel and Arnica) to help.
*Stretch (of course we warm up and cool down in every pole class, but stretching at home also helps to alleviate soreness. Just make sure you never overstretch your muscles pass your comfort level). Foam rollers and massages can work miracles. Invest in yourself!
*Rest and get the proper amount of sleep (your muscles recover during your sleep process). Sleep is very important. Get you some.
*Take care of your body. Seeing a massage therapist and chiropractor is good to do at least once a month if you’re a regular poler. Know your body and if it tells you to rest and/or get it checked out, never ignore that.
May your journey always be amazing...
Happy Poling 💕
