The Why Behind TOP: Leadership Starts Early
What do you see when you watch this video?
You might see a martial arts student leading warm-ups.
We see a future leader practicing.
At TOP, every student beginning at age 5 gets the opportunity to lead in every class.
For about 20 seconds, the student at the front is responsible for the group. They have to speak loudly and clearly, communicate what they want others to do, manage their time, and have the confidence to lead their peers.
Then they step back and allow someone else to lead.
It may only be 20 seconds.
But imagine what happens when you practice those 20 seconds over and over for years.
As our students advance, we expand those opportunities. Our Advanced students work in classes outside their own, giving them experience communicating with younger students, older students, beginners, adults, instructors, and people with different personalities and experience levels.
Because great leaders don't simply know how to give directions.
They know how to reach people.
They learn when to step forward and take command.
When to listen.
When to follow someone else's lead.
When to encourage.
And when to roll up their sleeves and work right alongside the team.
Those are skills I learned were incredibly important during my years in the business world—and I don't want our students to have to wait until adulthood to begin developing them.
So we start at 5.
Twenty seconds at a time.
Because someday that child at the front of the room may be leading a classroom, a project, a business, a family, a team—or an idea that changes the world around them.
This is the Why Behind TOP.
🥋 Building Tomorrow's Leaders Today.
💙 Helping every child discover their TOP life.

Check out Jace and Luca! Great test by both! Check out their concentration and awareness. It is really difficult to test by yourself. It is even harder when you are testing with another person and need to stay in sync with them. We are really working their self awareness, spatial, focus, timing, concentration, and their peripheral vision. I think they rocked it!
Creating future leaders by practicing leading and speaking in front of peers every single class.
Check out Lily!!! Throwback Monday!!!

Congratulation Sabella! It is a joy to me seeing your confidence, focus and determination growing! Keep up the good work!

Dojinum Ji Han Jae-Father of Hapkido. Even in his mid-80's, he could take down to the ground guys twice his size and weight utilizing the circle movement that is Hapkido. This is what makes this art so unique and powerful for all sized kids and adults. This art continues to amaze me still after 38 years of training.

Happy 250th Birthday to our Beautiful country! I feel truly blessed to be a citizen of the USA. I reflect often on my Grandmother that immigrated here from the USSR at 16 years of age in 1916 with her 13 year old sister in tow through Ellis Island New York. She was extremely brave and proud to be a US citizen. I remember my Dad asking her how to say something in Russian when I was a little kid and her response with her heavy Russian accent was "I speak only English because I am a US citizen". That left such a powerful impression on me. She had lived through the wars in her homeland, troops coming through and taking their food and livestock, communism-her family farm given up to the government. She knew the value of the opportunities, safety, and freedoms only found in the USA and she instilled that gratitude in all of our family.
Thank you to all of those that fought to keep The USA free. We must never forget their sacrifices.
God Bless and Protect the Beautiful United States of America!!
