We’re so proud of Sarah! She is an inspiration and we’re honored she chose us to come along with her on her fitness journey! 🫶🏼
“In 2019, I really started to worry about my health. I was about to finish graduate school, and after years of not taking care of myself, it had finally caught up with me. I was always focused on school, my career, and taking care of other people. I let those things become excuses not to prioritize myself and my health.
It’s hard to pinpoint one single moment that changed everything. I just knew I wanted to feel comfortable in my own skin. I’m not sure I ever really knew what that felt like. I had dreams of being able to travel and experience life without constantly worrying about my size.
After years of avoiding the doctor, I finally went in and learned that I was at my highest weight, 440 pounds, and was prediabetic. That was a major turning point for me. I knew I needed to change my habits, so I started with my nutrition. But I also walked into a gym and signed up.
That part was hard. I wasn’t sure I belonged there or if I would ever feel comfortable in a gym environment. Mitch Hunnicutt was the first trainer I ever had, and he helped me learn new exercises, work through injuries and setbacks, and believe in myself even when I struggled to do that on my own.
Recently, I reached a personal goal of losing 200 pounds. Even though my journey is far from over, reaching that milestone feels like an incredible accomplishment.
More than anything, it has taught me that consistency matters more than perfection. I stayed consistent with my nutrition and with exercise, even when it was hard. I started telling myself that I deserve the investment I make in myself. Somewhere along the way, I healed my relationship with food and with exercise. The gym isn't a chore anymore. It’s where I go to relieve the stress of my day or work on achieving personal goals and challenges set for myself.
I love the classes and the environment at Studio Health. It's so welcoming there and a place where everybody belongs. We have so much fun together, and the friendships and connections I’ve made have become a huge part of what motivates me to keep showing up for myself.
A thank you will never feel like enough for Mitch or for all of the trainers at Studio Health who have supported me along the way. They have been part of a journey that has changed so much more than my physical health.
I truly feel like I got my life back.”
