A Heartfelt Thank You to the Seattle Metro Classic Planning Committee

When the last point is played and the medals are handed out, it’s easy to see the competition—but what most people don’t see is the incredible team that has spent the past year making this tournament possible.

The Seattle Metro Classic doesn’t just happen. Our planning committee meets throughout the year, then weekly as tournament time approaches, tackling countless details behind the scenes. They coordinate with city officials, work alongside the fire department, hire security, arrange parking, manage budgets, recruit volunteers, solve problems before they happen, and make hundreds of decisions—all with one goal in mind:

To create the best possible tournament experience for every player.

This photo doesn’t include every member of the planning committee, but it represents the dedication, countless volunteer hours, and passion that make this event so special.

To every committee member, volunteer, and behind-the-scenes contributor: thank you. Your hard work often goes unnoticed, but it is deeply appreciated by everyone who steps onto the courts.

We also want to extend a special thank you to Mike Hoxie and the entire Pickleball Is Great team for expertly running this tournament. Your experience, organization, and commitment to the sport are evident in every detail. Congratulations on 10 years of hosting outstanding tournaments—we’re grateful for your partnership and here’s to the next 10 years!

If you’ve enjoyed your experience at the 2026 Seattle Metro Classic, please take a moment to leave a thank-you message in the comments below. We’d love for our planning committee, the Pickleball Is Great team, and all of the volunteers to see just how much their efforts mean to our pickleball community.

Today’s post is a two-for-one THANK YOU!

First, a huge thank you to The Drop Pickleball Club for sponsoring our incredible referee team at the 2026 Seattle Metro Classic! If you’ve been at the courts this week, you’ve probably noticed their unmistakable squirrel logo proudly displayed on the backs of our referees’ shirts. We are so grateful for community partners like The Drop Pickleball Club who help make this tournament possible.

And to our amazing referees… thank you.

Over the past six days, you’ve braved sunshine, wind, and even rain to keep play fair, consistent, and running smoothly. From calling foot faults and line calls to managing the intensity of championship matches, you’ve done it all with professionalism, integrity, and a smile.

Referees are often the unsung heroes of tournament play. Their dedication allows our athletes to compete with confidence, knowing every match is being officiated with fairness and consistency.

Please join us in thanking The Drop Pickleball Club for supporting our officials and in giving a well-deserved round of applause to every referee who has donated their time, energy, and expertise this week.

We couldn’t do it without you.
