Are you ready to get involved in the Central District Black Legacy Plan?

This exciting capital improvement plan will celebrate the history and legacy of the Central District’s pivotal Black activists, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists in local parks and open spaces.

We’re searching for consultants to lead a comprehensive planning process focused on community engagement, site analysis, and identifying potential capital investments to achieve the purpose of this project.

Future phases of the Black Legacy Plan may include full design development and implementation of the capital investments proposed during the planning phase.

The initial proposal includes William Grose Park, Powell Barnett Park, and Judge Charles M. Stokes Overlook, with the potential to add up to 2 more sites if funding allows.

Applications close Friday, August 28, 2026. (Deadline extended!)

SPR is introducing the ultimate teen summer experience! Summer Teen XP is a FREE drop-in program for youth to spend their summer engaging in field trips, sports, arts, games, leadership activities, outdoor adventures, and more.

Free Summer Meals with Seattle Parks and Recreation, Seattle Human Services Department, and United Way of King County are officially back.

This free program runs Mondays through Fridays from June 29 to August 20, rain or shine, to help provide access to healthy meals during the week, even when school is out!

These parks also provide free playground activities for kids and teens and may include arts and crafts, board games, organized recreational games, and, at select locations, hands-on STEM activities led by SPR Naturalists.
