“He’s so good with the kids… he lets them do anything to him.”
It’s one of the most common things we hear from families.
But here’s the question: Should they have to?
A dog who quietly tolerates climbing, hugging, grabbing, or being disturbed isn’t necessarily enjoying those interactions. Many dogs communicate their discomfort in subtle ways long before they ever growl—and when those signals are missed, both dogs and children are put at risk.
Our newest blog post, “Our Dog Is So Good, He Lets the Kids Do Anything to Him,” explores why this common belief can be misleading and how small changes can make a big difference in keeping both children and dogs safe.

Congratulations to Wednesday’s Reactive ReDo grads: Ava, Bernie and Rover who is not pictured because she had to miss the last class, but her dad came just to observe and continue to learn. Boogie stood in for her tho. Because both of these dogs were reacting on leash mostly because they are frustrated, we were able to practice “greet and retreat” with humans practicing keeping the leash slack. Easier said than done, but wow, what a success it makes when we can do so!
