Seattle Yacht Club is a premier sailing and boating community in Portage Bay in Seattle, WA. Seattle Yacht Club is home to more than 2,500 members.
Founded in 1892, we offer racing, cruising, junior sailing programs, and a world-class marina for members passionate about the Pacific Northwest waters. The Club hosts a world-class junior sailing program, which has given a start to numerous Olympians and generations of Northwest sailors. Flashback Friday:
During the 1950s, the schooner Gracie S, owned by SYC member Ed Kennel, was docked in Portage Bay. Kennell purchased the vessel from actor Sterling Hayden, who later bought her back to sail away to the South Seas.
Family Rendezvous at Port Madison!
From the excitement of the kids’ fishing derby to incredible food, games, and activities all weekend long, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Seeing families come together, kids making memories on the water, and members connecting with old and new friends is what these weekends are all about.
Thank you to everyone who helped make Father’s Day weekend at Port Madison such a special event. We can’t wait to do it again!

Our Members are gearing up for the 2026 NORPAC Cruise from July 19th-25th.
This is a week-long cruise event open to power and sail boats in Barkley Sound on the West Coast of Vancouver Island.

The countdown is on! This Saturday we’re looking forward to celebrating America’s 250th anniversary in Friday Harbor.
For those joining us, the day will be filled with festive traditions, time on the water and opportunities to enjoy the holiday with friends and family from the morning parade and Members BBQ to an unforgettable fireworks display over the harbor.

The Women’s Group May Cruise, themed “You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby,” celebrated 75 years of the Women’s Group while honoring generations of trailblazing women. Members cruised through the decades dressed as inspirational women or in traditional Club uniform.
