Had the pleasure to speak with highly touted Ole Miss Shortstop, Anthony Servideo. Here’s what he had to say about his journey, and what it took him to get where he is now!

“My thoughts in practice when we were taking ground balls was to play every single one game speed. Sometimes people can go through the motions; especially in practice, when it comes to fielding ground balls. I make sure my first step was perfect on every ball either in the 6 hole or up the middle. Making that first step is crucial if you are trying to make a play on the ball and that was my main focus.

During the game for me there was really no thinking. I knew I put in the correct work during practice so when it came to game time, I just let my instincts take over.

My success came from all the hard work I put in behind the scenes, and the mentors I had leading me up to this point. If you actually want to succeed and be the best at your game, you gotta do the extra work that most people dont put in. Late nights in the cages, extra reps in the weight room, and studying the game from professionals. Major League players didn’t make it by just putting in work at practice time. They stayed late, showed up early, and did the stuff others wouldn’t and thats why they are rewarded for it.”
